HTC Hero - unable to open email attachments or emails with pictures

My friend and I have HTC Hero phones. I am with Sprint, she is with Cellular South (a carrier here in south Mississippi). We are both unable to see pictures sent to us as part of an email (like pictures in a joke). And she is unable to open pictures as email attachments in her Yahoo acct. We have played with settings and Googled this problem, to no avail. nothing works.

I'm having the same problem with Text messages I receive. The photos won't open...HELP PLEASE!!!

2.1 OR 1.5? either way try backing up your contacts by whatever method you prefer and do a hard reset, if you are still running 1.5 on the sprint side then do the upgrade to 2.1 unless you are rooted (by upgrading you will loose root). When it comes to Cellular South... have her do a hard reset.
