I must be an idiot. How do I create an Avatar? When I click on the Avatar icon, the camera does nothing. Just in regular selfie mode. This is a factory unlocked phone.

1. You're not an idiot.
2. If I'm on the same page as you, creating an avatar is different for each app or site. Here is how I created my avatar for this forum. (I use different avatars in other places like Facebook)
I use my Chrome browser in this forum but if you use the specific app, it should be close.
1. Tap on the generic avatar on the top right of any page. That will bring up your account menu:
a generic avatar should be in place of my photo for you.
2. Tap on the generic avatar once.
3. When a second page appears, tap on the generic avatar once again.
4. That should bring up your Avatar Editor page:

After reading everything, tap on "choose file" and navigate to the picture you want. Just make sure it fits within the size posted.
5. I have no idea what a Gravatar is, sorry.
I hope that helps.
6. You can also begin by tapping the generic avatar in your post. Just keep tapping the avatar on each page that pops up until you get to the Avatar Editor.

I meant the avatar produced by the phone. I finally figured it out. You have to double-tap the avatar icon.

Appears that it's gone now, Mark, at least on my phone.
I had tried to make one when the update came in from Verizon, early last year, I think. Either Verizon took it out in a later update or I deleted the option when I tried it out.

Yep, I deleted it with the package disabler app.

This is why I disabled the app.
No matter what I tried, it wouldn't recognize anything.

Yep I know my glasses are on and all, but it didn't create anything.

After extensive searching, (about 2 minutes), I finally found how to make my avatar. But I don't see the need.
