I can't root this phone, because there is no factory image for "Taimen" QQ1A.200105.002 (January 2020). Installed android 10 a couple of weeks ago, but still waiting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:nailbitingdroid: Sorry, please disregard. Found it. The file that i found is an OTA file, not a Factory Image file, and is no good for rooting. Looks like i still need some help. Thanks

The last thing you want to do is update you firmware when you are intending to root. Rooting is basicle a circumvention of the security of the OS. Updating it with tighten security and likely prevent you from you gaining roit access

Android 10 has me going crazy. Trying to follow directions, but can't find a file named "boot.img".:oops:

the guide i linked you to does not mention boot.img. one of his links does however. but if you read the op very carefully, he does mention....and i quote:
2. Unlock bootloader. Follow the directions provided here in the "Unlock the bootloader of the Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL" section. (Don't waste your time reading the rest of those instructions, since that will confuse you and they don't work anyways.)

edit: basically the root process goes:
1. setup adb and fastboot
2. unlock the bootloader
3. install twrp
4. install magisk
5. yay you are rooted!!!!!!!!!

I Have a Verizon Pixel 2XL they say it is unlocked, but when i go into developer options OEM unlocking is greyed out.
When I go into bootloader device status is locked. Is there a way to fix this?

sorry....missed the verizon part. from what i have
MODEL G011C
yeah sorry i missed the verizon part......apparently i can't read....LOL

so from what i have read is that most verizon variants come with locked bootloaders so oem unlock will not work.

i have not seen any work-a-rounds on it yet.
but i did find this:
