Is the folder ..\Android\data\com.android.vending owned by Google Play Store? I have about 330 MB of data in here and I would like to know if there is a safe way to clean that out. Some of this is probably a history of purchases? How important is it to keep that information?

330 mb is nothing really. if you are trying to make room on your phone, it will hardly make an impact tbh.

I have an old device out of space. I have uninstalled as many applications as I could. I have migrated every application possible to the SD Card. I have deleted every discretionary file (e.g., podcast MP3, etc). What would you recommend as a good strategy to get back space? No doubt there are tons of logfiles and cached files in binary formats but I do not dare delete those things if I do not know the application that created them and what it needs to find to work.

com.android.vending has to do with the play store....it is not owned by the play store. i believe this is a temporary cache folder for the play store(i could be wrong). i would not worry about it.

So you think everything in the data folder under vending folder can be deleted safely?

yes, you can delete it, but do not be surprised if android rewrites the folder later on. that is what temporary cache files and folders are for.

what phone do you have? how much room to do you have?

The com.android.vending folder is a temporary cache folder for the Google Play Store app on Android devices. It is safe to delete the contents of this folder, as it will not affect the functionality of the Play Store. However, it is not recommended to delete this folder unless you are running out of storage space.
If you are running out of storage space, you can try clearing the cache of the Play Store app. To do this, open the Settings app on your device and go to Apps & notifications > See all apps > Google Play Store > Storage & cache. Tap on Clear cache and then tap on Clear storage.
You can also try using a third-party app cleaner to clear the cache of the Play Store app. However, it is important to note that these apps can sometimes be harmful to your device, so it is best to use them with caution.
Here are some of the risks of using third-party app cleaners:
  • They can delete important system files.
  • They can slow down your device.
  • They can cause your device to become unstable.
If you are not sure whether or not you should use a third-party app cleaner, it is best to avoid them. Clearing the cache of the Play Store app manually is a safe and effective way to free up storage space.
Here are the steps on how to clear the cache of the Play Store app manually:
  1. Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps.
  2. Find the Google Play Store app and tap on it.
  3. Tap on Storage & cache.
  4. Tap on Clear cache.
  5. Tap on Clear storage.
Once you have cleared the cache of the Play Store app, your device should have more storage space available.
