Irked about best buy and being on the 2nd shipment list..

My best buy has a few extra's, i was planning on heading there a few hours before and just camping out for it. However work called and i have to be somewhere at 10 which is a hour or so away so no way i can,.

Plus i am adding it on to a friends account then removing it to mine which radio shack won't do. I asked if i could pay in full or anything else and there is no way but to camp out.

I would have preordered earlier but i was waiting to make sure i could add it to a friends and remove it with no issues, so just kind of sucks that even though i preordered it i would have to wait a extra week while they have extra's in. Waiting the extra week normally i could live with but i broke my hero and using my instinct which barely works and takes over 15 button presses to register one push ....... grrrr

My line is not up for upgrade until December. So my friend is letting me use the upgrade on his second line. Best buy will add it to his them remove it and add it to mine. RS won't do it i have called around to a few stores and only Best buy will do it.

Like i said normally waiting the extra week would not be that big of deal but my phone rarely works, it takes me about 3 mins to make a call as it is.

Adding a line is more expensive though. This way i am paying $199 for the phone, $18 to him to add a phone, free to switch back to his old one, then $18 to add it to my line.

So much cheaper plus i have a upgrade in dec still.

It doesn't cost $18 to just do an ESN swap to your line. You can simply do this online and get it from RS.

Yup....I did an esn swap last week. Took about 5 mins. Not as awesome as a sim card but it was painless and easy.

I'm with you Ash... I find it a tad irritating if store locations are going to be retailing extras instead of contacting '2nd wave' pre-orders.

If you can make it into a store at opening, go get one and apply your credit towards the phone and just tell them to cancel your pre-order. If you can't make it in, then wait til 3-5 days afterward just like you were informed you'd have to do when you pre-ordered after the 21st.

When did you preorder? You have put a down payment on the phone, if they dont hold it for 48 hours they are breaking their pre-order policy.

PS I used to be a GeekSquad "agent" so trust me on this. Ask them about their pre-order policy and to show you it in writing if they don't agree.

It was about 10 days ago i preordered mine. She marked on mine 2nd shipment when i reserved it and said they would have no extras launch day.

A few days ago was the first time i heard the 11th was the 2nd wave date i figured it would be that tuesday. Then i hear they will have some extra also and they are first come first serve rather then bumping up the 2nd wave preorders which is kind of BS.

I talked to Radio Shack, seeing if i can get one near my house. They are very anti on switching it, but i talked to sprint and they are find with doing it online after its bought. Only issue is if you buy it from someplace that does not have a instant rebate you will lose that. So buy it at best buy or RS if you are doing this.

We know.. part of the issue/question is... say a store had 20 first wave PO's, recieves 25 phones. Should those 5 be available for retail or should they be allocated to people that pre-ordered 2nd 'wave'?

I know, im my case the store provided no information in regards to a cutoff for 'pre-orders' or they being in 'waves'. In my case in fact, the '2nd wave' was mentioned in that they had more pre-orders than they thought they would recieve units, there was no mention of a cut-off date
to recieve by the 4th etc.

One word of warning, if your dealing with a mail in rebate you will need to wait till the rebate has been processed before swapping the line. If you swap the line before the rebate process is finished than you might lose your rebate.
