Got Eris-May Trade It In for Droid-Any way to enable XT9 input?

I got the Eris-I love the phone, but I may want a keyboard in a smart phone.
However, I want to be able to text like I used to on older phomes-with one thumb.

The Eris allows people to change to XT9 input, something I really like. I tried to find something similar on the Motorola Droid and couldn't find any place to change it. Is this option available on the Motorola phone?

If I can't change it, that makes two things which bother me about the Motorola phone-the inability to NOT get the mobile versions of web pages as the default and now this texting issue.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
