Should I wait for the Milestone XB720 or get the Desire?

I've had my eyes on the Desire for a while now and my dad has promised that he will get me it this month.
However the Motorola Milestone XT720(typo in title whoops!) has caught my attention with it's 8 megapixel camera and 720p video recording, which I like the sound of.
So now I'm stuck between these two phones, any advice guys?

Also, how is the camera quality on the Desire and can any of you upload some samples as I'm struggling to find any.

Hmmm, you're asking a large group of Desire owners which phone out of the Desire and A N Other phone to get? Can you see which way this is gonna go? :D

You really need to way up what you want to do with the phone exactly. 720p will appear on the Desire and I feel that's pretty well guaranteed. Either via a 2.2 update or the guys on XDA creating the encoders.

As for the camera, it's 5 megapixel and takes decent enough images. Starts to grain in low light but then the majority of phone cameras do as the sensors in them are so small they can't cope. This also means that it's pointless going much about 5 or possibly 8 anyway because you'll start bringing in other issues with picture quality.

Having owned Motorolas in the past and had friends that have had them and not had too good a time with them AND being a Desire owner then I'll say go with the Desire but at the end of the day it's down to you and exactly what it is YOU will do with the phone :)

Cameras on phones have never really interested me for one simple reason - they're s**t!

It doesn't matter how many megapixels you try to cram in, if the lens is too small then the extra pixels are wasted because it simply can't get enough light onto the sensor (which is why small lenses SUCK for anything other than bright sunshine, and even then it's still nothing compared to a dedicated pocket cam or DSLR!) I used to use a Nikon D50 back in college when I did my photography A level and that only had maybe 6 megapixels, but the quality was absolutely stunning. Megapixels don't count for s**t if you slap a bad or small lens on the front!

For that reason, cameras on phones have always been, for me at least, just basic snappers. Something to capture any spontaneous moments on the fly where quality isn't an issue. And seeing as quality isn't an issue with those kinda snaps, what's wrong with the 5 MP the Desire offers?

Other than that, the Milestone XT720 is really lacking in spec compared to the Desire! Half the processing power and half the RAM, plus it looks really f'ugly! Oh and the Desire will be able to do 720p recording soon too...

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe this will be the first phone to ever be released with a decent camera and you can all laugh at me and call me names. I would still go for the Desire though, a slight increase in camera quality doesn't justify the awful looks and serious lack of grunt under the hood.

Being a first time Android user with a Desire, I recently tried a Milestone...............
I have to say I loved the physical keyboard, but HTC sense just made more Sense.

The comparison of specs really depends what you use your phone for, I'm sure I would of been very happy with a Milestone, but after using Sense I'd find it hard living without it.
