Is there an Easier Way to Switch Apps??

Ok.... I am trying to figure out how to switch between apps....???

The expanded manual says to hole the "home" button down from the Home screen. This works to an extent , BUT does not show all apps I have running??

For instance I emailed my selt the link to the extended manual from Motorola.

I click on that link and it downloads the pdf then opens QuickDocs to read it, BUT if I want to go back to the Home screen for something I can't get back to the Quick Docs app to continue reading from where I left off??? I have to go thru the whole prcess over again and then it tries to download the manual again, so I cancel it and click on the previous one downloaded listed above the download. Then it opens QuickDocs again , but I then have to scroll thru all the pages I read to get to the page I left off at. What gives??? It is time consuming and annoying!!!

Hopefully I am missing something simple here????

if you just open quick docs (i.e. click the actual quick docs icon) it should reopen to where you left off. shouldn't need to redownload anything. but I haven't tried quickdocs yet

LOL...Thanks. I had thought of that also, BUT I can't find the damn icon anywhere???

Is is not on the apps screen....Does everyone else see it there???

Sometimes I've noticed that when you use one app to open another app, it doesn't consider that second app to be "running" in the sense that it doesn't show up in the list of "recent" apps when you hold the home button.

For example if I use AndExplorer(file manager program) to open a video, if I leave the video to answer a call, if I want to return to the video, I can't find the video player, but if I go to AndExplorer it takes me the to video on pause.


See if you can't open quick docs first.

What is really weird is I don't even have a Quick Docs app icon on the apps screen?? It just opens when you click on the .pdf link w/i the email.

Does anyone have the Quick App Icon there???

Sorry...Small Correction..... It is not Quick Docs ... it is Quick Office.

BUT Where the heck is the application icon?????

Or is it like actually built into gmail, and we don't really have a doc/pdf viewer that comes w/ the DROID????

If you hold the home button it only display the 6 most recently launched applications launched by you via the app's icon. It doesn't count clicking a link in an email or stuff like that. The only way to see running applications is to have a task killer. A lot of task killers will allow you to also keep their icon in the status bar, and then you can set it to switch to an app instead of kill an app by default.

I have tried TasKiller, and Advanced Task Killer.

Advanced Task Killer has a option to "Switch To" if you hold down on the task listed, BUT it doesn't do anything?????

Hi! First post here

Your QuickOffice (Free version, I would imagine) probably came stock with the device - it's been pre-installed by the manufacturer, most likely for a kickback from the developer to the manufacturer for bringing in customers who pay to upgrade to the full version.

It's called an OEM version of the software and unless you have root access (which you won't unless you jailbreak your device and install your own version of Android), the OEM apps will be locked to you. Usually you can't even uninstall them.

If you really need the functionality, your easiest alternative is to install a different office suite. One you and the OS will have access to in the Home shortcut list.
