Help Hardware version 0002 with all the issues

I have the 0002 hw version and all the crap of the phone. Light leakage, screen raised up at bottom, v mail sounds horrible etc..., but otherwise the best damn phone I've ever owned; just want the 0003 hw to make things right. I went into a sprint store and they were absolutely no help. They argued that there's no such thing as 0002 or 0003 and that they could run some tests on it but wont give me a new evo. Called *2 and got the same story. I pre-ordered at rs and they cant get their hands on one, otherwise they'd swap it w no questions. Idk if anyone else has run into this and has any advise but I'd be very greatful if anyone could help out.

My replacement from RS was 0003 and had worse light leakage than 0002.

I personally would not put a lot of stock in the HW revision number this early in the game. Seems like I have read about HTC calling customers about the screen issue and other things even though HW 3 is out. I bet you can find HW 3 units with the screen issues. Having worked in a manufacturing plant before, revision numbers can indicate something as simple as a change in a diode of capacitor change on an internal printed circuit board, which would mean nothing to the end user. It can also mean much bigger changes but how would anyone know unless they worked for HTC engineering? I feel that too much weight and worry is being thrown at the HW numbers. I have a HW 2 for what it is worth and I have none of the issues that many are having....yet, other than the "no hand upper screen grounding issue" which I probably would not have known about other than reading about it here.

There are articles out there suggesting that the screen issues, separation and grounding are being addressed by HTC. I would enjoy the EVO and await the fixes. That is my take on the deal.....

So basically what your saying is it's a crap shot if I get a replacement lol. I guess I may have it replaced and just sit in the store with it for quite a while to verify that it is free of all issues, is about all I can do

I guess I am saying that to some extent. It is hard to know. There is no one here that can can give a definitive answer on what a change between HW2 and HW3 is. I think everyone assumes that the higher HW number must mean it is better.... It may be, or it may be some insignificant change that would mean nothing in terms of how the unit works to the end user. For all we know, it could be a build batch number, with no changes what so ever. Only HTC knows for sure. If you do get a new one, at least you know the problem areas to look over while you are hanging out in the store.

Supposedly one of the differences is they used a different LCD panel. Currently, I haven't found out if its better or not. Big discussion on XDA-Developers trying to solve the 30 fps issue. Supposedly, each screen reacts differently to work arounds, but that's all I know so far.

I have hardware version 2 and everything seems to be working great. Should I consider getting a phone with hardware version 3 before my 30 days are up? Or does it really matter at this point?

Personally, if everything is working great, keep it. There is a hardware difference, but both the 2s and 3s have some problems. Just keep it and if you start having issues, use the manufacturer's warranty or the TEP if you have it. I have TEP, so I don't worry about these things until something breaks. Then I think about fixing it.
