Well i want to post this out there as to see not only what people think, but also to find other alternatives to getting information sync'd on the new MOtorola Droid.
So coming form my old phone VZ copied all of my contacts into the phone, awesome, so they are all there. BUt now what?
sure i can sync to a google account, but do i really want to do that? do i really want a tons of people's personal information out on the cloud? esepcially with no backup (not like that sidekick debacle would happen on google, but it could)
So my other option is Exchange, which, ok, that's a decent option, but most places that use Exchange are a work and company policy is that all that information is also owned by the company, even if it is personal, because it is on a company machine. That, well, that's bad. so let's say, for most people, exchange is not an option.
Facebook? i mean really? like i want people's personal information on Facebook, that's a disaster waiting to happen, so while it is an option, it's a stupid one.
NOw one option that something like the iPhone has is with Mobile Me, it sync's your phone contacts with your address book on your harddrive. To me this is the perfect option, it's all personal data anyways, backed up on my laptop in case of phone emergency, perfect, i like this. and it's also not easily accessed by the cloud unless i want it to be.
So what can i do, then, on my new Droid to have something like the iPhone's concatc setup? i want something that is backed up, preferably not on the cloud, and i have full control over it. any ideas?
or how are most people setting up their full contacts on their new droid? i would be curious to know what setups other people are using.
