simple poll to see which launcher is more popular on the Evo.

LauncherPro
ADW.Launcher
Zeam Launcher
Sense UI Launcher
Stock Android Launcher
Other

if other, please state which launcher you're using

i've been using LauncherPro due to the 3D dock launcher and screen animations/transitions from program to screen and vice versa. it's missing an overshoot option, which is present in ADW.Launcher. again, if the features of these two were combined, it would make for the perfect launcher. it seems that which each update of these two, they get closer and closer to be just like each other.

Love ADW Launcher. Never heard of Zeam..

i've never heard of Zeam either. i did a search really quick to throw one in there and it had a pretty good rating on appbrain.

another thing i thought was strange about ADW, and this is nitpicking here...when you put the phone to sleep, then wake and unlock, the image before unlocking moves down after you unlock. not sure what's up with that. but i found it slightly annoying.

I feel like ADW gives more customization options. You can have many more desktop rows and columns than Launcher Pro (which I think limits to 5?). Not to mention their newest feature of widget stretching, so you can manually set how big or small each widget is. I'm not a fan of Launcher Pro's app drawer - I think their "3D" drawer is kind of cheesy. I love the ADW version, which I have set to a semi-transparent background (and you could change the color). I feel like its faster than Launcher Pro too after toying with the settings. Ultimately its much more customizable IMO.

I do really like the dock of launcher pro though, especially with the scrollable thing. And I like their opening and closing of app animations.

yup it's limited to 5, which i don't mess with this feature. what i wanted was something like the stock launcher, except i want the dock at the bottom, more screens, as well as a few other minor tweaks.

i didn't know you could have a little transparency with ADW app launch. i'll have to check that out. i disagree with it being faster than LauncherPro, though. when you launch the app drawer, it takes a milli second or so before the text of the apps shows up. with LauncherPro, the text fades in with the apps. i agree ADW does have more customization options currently, but the ones it adds i don't really mess with. i suppose it's down to user preference. i think LauncherPro can get laggy at times with screen scrolling where as ADW is super smooth for the most part.

another cool thing about LauncherPro over ADW, you can long press in the dock and add whatever you want. with ADW you have to drag stuff in there.

like i said, if these two devs teamed up...they could make one bad ass launcher and charge at least $3 bucks for it and people would eat it up indefinitely.

the app animations are nice though in LauncherPro.
another plus for ADW, you can set the bar at the bottom to stay visible instead of auto hide unlike LauncherPro.

I am using Sense because of the widgets.

i was too, at first. but then i realized there were comparable widgets on the market and other ways to go about doing things.

for instance, the favorites widget that comes with sense...you can make a shortcut to call a person (view contact info, send msg, etc) instead.

i found a better widget over frinedstream as well. i had fb integrated into friendstream, but i don't even use it that much. i swapped that out for touiteur pro which has an awesome 4x3 widget. their app is also the best twitter app imo. most screen real estate.

there's also a calendar widget you can download (pure grid widget). really, there's a replacement on the market for just about anything. and using one of these launchers over Sense, i think, has a lot more customizable options. try one, or all. you might be surprised.

only thing i hated about Sense was the dock launcher. it's too clunky and big. if HTC would make skins or something, or give you more options, i would've stuck with that.

"Homeswitcher" in the market is a convenient app I've been using that lets you switch between launchers. Ya'll should try it out if your trying to compare which launcher you would like to use. Saves the settings & all.

i was using homeswitcher at first, but it has some issues. sometimes when i'd use it, launch an app, then hit the home button, it would revert back to a previous launcher i was using, even though i was hitting set as default and launch. i reverted back to manually clearing the defaults and force stopping and have had no issues with it reverting back.
