    * basically i'm asking if all things equal - like say mtd partitions, filesystem, major hardware - would a custom recovery built expressly for another work still function if flashed on another phone?

    sir a few questions of your recovery:

    * as a setup I have a china-sourced phone that i believe absolutely has no developer nor community support hence a lack of updates, CWM ports or ROMS;

    * among your provided CWMs, you have a few that share similar hardware and china-based manufacturer - msm7227a, adreno 200, 512mb, GB stock roms. Mine though has a 3.5inch screen.

    * whats the worse that can happen if i flash a recovery from either the zte blade 2 or huawei g300 into mine? Im considering this course of action just to enable root on my unit.

    I still have the dump from the second run. Do you need them? Think I removed an app or two before the dump ( if that matters )
