Google Maps UPDATE!!!!

Ok did anyone actually read what it said????

"What's new in Maps?

-Latitude finds suggested friends for you to add
-Search results list automatically expands as you scroll
-Transit station pages show upcoming departures"

Unless you have the actual release notes, you don't know if there are other additions/features not mentioned in the 3 line blurb (BTW why DOESN'T market show you the release notes, or atleast give you a link?)

The update is nice, but it still lacks the feature I want. I want to be able to create a route with waypoints. I can create a map with directions on Google Maps, but when moved to the Droid, all the waypoints are lost and all that remains is the start and destination.

My old Nokia N810 would let me include waypoints, but only if I first created them one by one and then added them to the route one by one. PITA.

Google Maps lets you just drag the route from one road to another to create the perfect route. It's awesome, and I'd like to be able to copy that map to my droid and then use it to navigate.

Try the Google Inc app in Market titled, My Maps Editor by Google.

When the frack is Google going to make it so that when you have Maps open the screen doesn't time out??!?!? Having to use a 3rd party app (KeepScreen) on one of the primary Google applications on a GOOGLE OS is simply inexcusable.

Having a primary Google application that completely drains the battery because you forgot to turn the screen off manually is simply fraking inexcusable.

Hi, this is probably the wrong place to post this, but since you are discussing the maps app, is it possible to download different audio for the voice navigation. I'm not crazy about the choppiness of the voice that comes with it and think it would be cool to try out new audio (ie- tom-tom has the simpsons LOL). I'm new so please be kind about not knowing if I should start a new post with this or put it in here with maps. Maybe I should copy it to a new thread as well? Thanks.

Nothing useful but a thread does exist.

When you are using the phone as a GPS it should perform like one. Having the screen time out when you're using the map is just silly.

i am confused. when you are using the phone as a GPS (that is, when you are in navigation mode), the screen does not time out. it's only when you are just on a map that it times out. when you're just on a map, you're just...looking at a map. you aren't navigating, right? in that case, the app expects you are somehow going to interact with it, so it will time out if you don't. but if you are navigating, the screen will stay on. that's how mine seems to function, anyhow.

maybe i'm just not getting the point here, but this makes sense to me.
