I doubt this is a ROM related issue. First of, Fresh has 6 bars to see your signal and Zen only has 4. You need to compare signal strength vs signal strength as opposed to bars vs bars. You can check this by going to Menu>Settings>About Phone>Network and see what signal strength says.

Alternatively, you can try flashing a new radio that may or may not help your reception.

2)I have also noticed a 4 and a half ring delay when I called my cell from my phone (that leaves about 3 rings left-- not good).

Have you tried changing your Slot Index? I'd try this first.

3)Secondly, VVM is not working, in fact, it doesn't even show up. I have to deal with the annoying SMS's that I get sent in order to listen to my voicemail.

The SMS is very annoying but can be avoided by using Google Voice as your VM program.

If you want to stick with the STOCK VVM app, there is an update in the Zen Updater that needs to be flashed. You will also need to go to Menu>Settings>Call>VM service (and choose carrier) and to VM settings and change the number from *86 to your cellphone number. ALSO, you would need to use handcent to blacklist the message from 9906 or whatever it is....

5) While I can log onto my GMAIL account fine (I only use it for Android), I cannot log into any other E-Mail account. It always gives me a message like "Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding".

I'm assuming you are trying this through the mail app and not the browser? More information needed.

6) Lastly, I cannot figure out how to change my SMS notification sound. It is not linked to the notification sound in settings, and I cannot find out a setting where I can change this sound. If this is the only problem I had, I could live with it, but the ring tone is just annoying me like crazy lol.

I know some of you may think this is a flame (?), but it is not meant to be. I really want Zen to work, because from what I have seen that DOES work, it works well, and I like that aspect of it. I am wondering if anyone has some troubleshooting ideas that I can follow in order to make Zen more usable? TIA

To get rid of the sms voicemail notifications pull the eri.xml from darchdroid and push it to /system/etc
