Hate to bust everybody bubble but thats a test unit with 2.2 the poster on the vid just looking 4 attention. Moto will not realease any X with 2.2 until the update is ready.

BTW... They pushed it back for a reason, need to fix all the bugs that the X has because they realeased it a month b4 it was ready to compete with the pressure from the Iphone 4. Still think that the X was suppose to release with the D2 with 2.2 on board.

My orginal droid got 2.2 today sure would be nice that the new phone would get it first. Now im really wanting it. Animated.radar on 2.2

I've since moved on from my old Droid as well, but I for one am glad Moto hasn't forgotten about the original Droid and gave them their update first. They have being waiting a lot longer after all... ;)

I've moved on from my Droid also, but I gave it to my daughter since she only had an Eris. I updated hers. Plus a good friend of ours is getting her Droid on our family plan next week so I get to teach her all about Android (I really enjoy doing that, especially since she is really excited about it).

But yeah, like I have said in other posts on here there is no reason why the Droid 2 has 2.2 and the X doesn't. Look at the bright side though, it will be rooted quickly. Then as soon as it is released for the X the Devs will already know how to root it so we won't have to wait. Just look at the bright side of things. I wasn't going to upgrade to 2.2 until it was rooted anyways.

watch this same shit happen late down the line with gingerbread, there will be a new phone (droid3?) touting as one of its main features being 3.0 and to improve start up sales other devices will have to wait for 3.0.

Motorolla is leaving me with a rather bitter taste in my mouth about software after everyone telling me to switch from htc phones to motorlla I have no clue why they like Moto. I'm very strongly considering selling my x and getting a fascinate when it's released even though sammy isn't great with software updates Its probably just as bad as moto at this point.

Jeez people... lighten up on Motorola already!

While it's absolutely true that the Droid X and Droid 2 share similar hardware... they're not exactly the same. Motorola's development and QC teams have been hard at work getting the D2 ready for release... and getting the 2.2 update ready for release for the D1. My guess is that they're now doing QC on the release earmarked for the DX.

For all we know the bottleneck may not even be Motorola. It's possible that VZW is pushing back the release till their deployment of 2.2 on the D1 completes.

Seems like we've got an awful lot of unknowns here... And until someone with more knowledge of the inner workings at Motorola and VZW comes along, I'm thinking it prudent to consider cutting them a little slack. Speaking for myself I really don't want them rushing Froyo to us and leaving us with a boatload of bugs and quirks to deal with.

I dont think that droid2 having 2.2 matters since both droid2 and x are made by the same manufacturer. They are still making money no matter which unit is bought.

They want big first day sales numbers for their newest phone thought.Even if it takes sales away from the Droid X it still looks good for their first day sales numbers. Its all about the numbers anymore.
