When will we get 2.2?

I've been trying to figure out what the deal is with Android 2.2 on this phone. I bought this phone last month and have been very happy with it (as it is the only decent android phone that you can get without doing a bunch of extra work in Canada) but, though it looks like Acer has committed to an eventual update, is there a good place to get information about when to expect it?

The phone is pretty much a vanilla install of Android (which is also awesome) so i can't see how an update would be a huge inconvenience for the manufacturer.

Rogers has confirmed that froyo is coming to our liquids some time around Q4

hey grizzle, does the stock liquid with 2.1 do wifi hotspotting (ie. use 3g signal and act as a router for you to log in with another device with wifi)?

You have to have root access I believe and install an app, or wait until 2.2 comes out for it built in.

I hope that rogers does update the liquid e to 2.2 and not screw around like they doing with the magic update to 2.1. magic owners must be pulling their hair out waiting for 2.1!

For what its worth:

HOWEVER, Acer said Eclair for 2.1 in March and we did not see it til July.

thanks hustlindaily so Q4 is the likely time period. I may have a samsung vibrant galaxy s by then. I am trying to sell my liquid e! Do you have google voice search on your e. I need to find the apk due to the fact that i cant find it in the market!

I downloaded it but on my screen popped up download unsuccessful no application can be found to open this file. I have astro file manager but it does not show up! Any tips to remedy this situation?

Just download it onto your computer and place it manually onto your SD Card.

I imagine when Froyo does comes out, it will "un-root" the phone and re-install all of the Rogers bloatware.

I will probably have to wait for the 2.2 community ROM.

that apk worked like a charm thanks hustlindaily. i'm gonna keep the link in my gmail due to the fact that i may be getting the galaxy s vibrant unlocked to work on rogers.I have lookout app intsalled to back up my info. I used app back up to restore my apps. Even though i thought i had the voice apk, it did not back it up. Is there any app back up that will 100% restore my apps if i transfer to a new android device.
