Accessories Evo Otterbox Commuter Case Review

In what way is the bottom plug unsecure? Could you post a photo? Mine fits perfectly snug like the picture posted above in post #2.

Mine stays closed too, until it touches anything including the inside of my pocket which will make it open up. Not digging the design of the flap, would be leaps and bounds better if they had rubber nubs that went into the HDMI and USB ports to hold it in.

I just picked up one of these as well from my local sprint store and it appears to be a great case. I have the body glove as well as the Pt case (seidio) and holster I picked up from best buy on launch day. I guess I can add something to the forum by letting anyone that has a seidio case and holster that the holster will work with the Otterbox case perfectly. It was the determining factor for me when I saw the case at my local Sprint store. I dont like to put anything in my pocket except a wallet and every phone I have owned since the late 90's have had a clip case or a holster.

I think the commuter is the perfect case for those of us who already paid for that near bullet proof screen protector, a decent case and holster combo from seidio.
The defender has a built in screen protector which in our case isnt needed, it comes with a holster which in our case isnt needed. I personally like the look of the commuter in the holster better than the defender looks plus I have it now vs who knows when.

I wish I had another phone with a good camera to take a pic of it in the holster because it looks like it should have came that way. On a side note you can order the holster by itself from seidio as well just a little FYI.
Which product do you like better, the Siedio or the Otterbox? Thanks!

Which Seidio holster is confirmed to work with the Otterbox commuter series case?

From the Seidio site it appears that there are 3 options for ordering holster only:

Innocase Holster for use with Seidio Innocase II Surface
Spring-Clip Holster for use with non-cased device
Innocase Active Holster for use with Seidio Innocase Active

Which one of these 3 holsters give the best fit, if any? Thanks.

Agreed, strange they did that for the 3.5mm headphone jack up top but neglected the details for the bottom ports.

The one for the Active may work, but here it is in the holster made for the Innocase

The Innocase Active Holster for use with Seidio Innocase Active would give you the absolute best fit. The Otterbox is almost exactly the same dimentions as the Seidio Active case. There is a TINY TINY amount of movement of the case inside the holdster but I think the fit is MUCH better than for the Innocase Surface holdster. The phone will not fall out.

good to know. how secure is it in the holster?

Perfect, no movement as described below

Do you have the Innocase Surface holster? And in your opinion is any movement good while the phone is in a holster? I've never owned a phone with holster where it moved inside the holster, and I don't think I would want to.

Movement is minimal. I didn't have an issue. I'd prefer a tiny bit of moment instead of looking like the tiniest bit of lift of the clip will send my phone flying. That is the sort of moment I can't tolerate.

Cool, I would imagine both would work and I don't have the active holster to test on but I'm hapy with how the Surface fits. With the silicon being on the top of the Commuter the holster grips into it well and I don't feel like the spring loaded clip would move at all.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It sounds like the holster for the innocase surface will fit my needs. From what I gether here there is no wiggle whatsoever and the phone feels secure within the holster with no chance of flying out.

It sounds like the active holster might work as well but that "wiggle" within the holster might bother me. As long as there is no chance of the Evo with Commuter flying out of the innocase surface holster then I'll probably go that route.

Anyone who's using the seidio holster having a hard time getting the phone INTO it with the otterbox case on? Every time I put it in the holster, it manages to pull the silicon portion almost all the way off the device, unless I literally OPEN the spring/clip thing and slide it in, then close the clip down over/around the case again. Makes it a bit of a pain not being able to just slide it in there like I can/could with the Seidio case I had on there..

Just got mine minutes ago and I was a little disappointed that it was little different than my Seidio Active case (not the Limited Edition). In fact, the hard plastic exo-skeleton of the Seidio felt a little more substantial. If I had a chance to test out the case before purchase I would have stuck with the Active.

The power button is much easier to push on the Otterbox. That was my biggest frustration with the Seidio. I was putting slips of paper under the case to make the button push easier. Not so with the Otterbox.

I agree with others that the plastic on the Otterbox is a little slippery. I have large hands so it doesn't bother me as much. As for the port covers; I haven't used it enough to get a feel for whether they will stay put.

I think I would have been really happy with this had I not experienced the Seidio. This is a good case but I don't feel it lives up to the Otterbox hype that I heard on here and other forums.

I have to agree with Festo,my main complaint is that the hard case part cut out for the camera is off a little. Quite annoying for the amount I paid. But overall a nice backup case. To each there own I think the Seidio is for me.

I'll use the Otterbox for a week and see if I change my mind, but the cutout for the camera is annoying me.

I have the Otterbox on my phone right now and I not sure what you mean about the cut out for the camera is off. I just looked. It is perfectly centered around the camera. Did you adjust the case first to make sure it is on properly? The case I got was directly from Otterbox. Also, I have taken the phone in and out of my pocket with no problems with the usb/hdmi cover coming off at all. My only question would be if the Commuter case will work in the Seidio Innotraveler Car Kit. Otherwise, so far, compared to my last two cases, Body Glove and Seidio Innocase Surface II, this makes those look like a Yugo compared to a Ferrari.

It's on properly, I've installed the case multiple times and the cut out is off on the hard case, it favors the right side and covers part of the chrome. I know of one other member who had this same problem. The case I received was ordered from Otterbox, unfortunately my experience Differs from yours. My personal preference is a Seidio limited case it is a better quality product from my experience.

Otterbox does make a nice case, but obviously they have to do better quality assurance on their products.

The camera hole is off centered on mine as well. Got it straight from Otterbox. It is annoying since the bezel is chrome you can see it really well. Not a deal breaker but for 35 bucks they should make it tight. Also the cover for the ports at the bottom is a joke. Breathe on it wrong and it will come out on 1 side or the other. You can tell they rushed this case into production to make us happy more quickly. Hopefully the defender wont be so rushed.

Just had this happen to me with today with the port cover. As soon as I accessed the port the cover has been falling off all day any time I use my phone.

I want to love it but agree on the rush of production.

I'm glad at least some members are happy with theirs, I must be in the minority and will probably send this one back for a replacement and give another chance.
