Root GalaxHero v1.1 and Recovery v4.3 are out!

@MichaelW
Excellent answers, thanks Michael!

The "APN dropping" issue means that the APN list is blank, and when you create&save a new APN it just never appears in the list. Rebooting a couple of times seems to fix this, for a while. FYI, I've seen this on every rom (bought with G8, I think), but then my phone is also suffering from sensor errors (see other thread).

aTrackDog reports 54 apps, and I really don't feel that's a lot. Many of these are just small things such as the Scandinavian Keyboard, its dictionaries, and Locale plugins. In any case, there's a ton of space left on the device, and it would be kinda dumb if Android can't handle that. On my old Palm I used to have way more than that, with no performance impact whatsoever, so that's why I expect the Galaxy to keep up.

I may go for the factory reset, though, to make a definite fresh start.

At HDblog, I just wanted to spare them from having a horde of inactive 'leech' users. So far I can log in but can't download anything. Any chance to host the files in this thread, too?

Yeah I never experienced that.

Ah I see yeah lots will be system stuff so not quite as many user installed apps. It shouldn't matter whether you have 5 or 500 apps though :D

They like their exclusivity over there, and don't want the files hosted anywhere else.

Galaxo (non-Hero themed version)

Version 1.1.1 available now, fixes the issue with enabling/disabling VNC in the GalaxHero 1.0 ROM.

[English] Samsung Galaxy ROM : Galaxo V1.1 - HDblog - Forum

Alternatively if you already updated to GalaxHero 1.1 (with broken VNC swith off) you can download GalaxoConf.apk version 2 by itself, I had to download it from some external link I found (I think from twitter source somewhere). The one that came with the GalaxHero1.1 didn't have it and I had problems deactivating VNC as it was always running. The new version GalaxoConf 2.0 solved it and you can change SSH on/off and VNC Oon/off without rebooting.

Whats the point of doing that? In this step im restoring gapps and not libhgl. Also the restoring of libhgl is not a must cause the default file is included. I have about 4gb free space.
i know i was just mentioning it if you want to fix the graphiocs issue with 3d games

its weird tho, for you to be getting no space left on device i read that as there not being enough room for the recovery to extract ii5.tar and get the gapps files from it.
4 gigs of internal storage is plenty of space so im at a loss as to what your
problem is

did you doing this from a freshly wiped device or are you retaining your data.
id be interested to find out how many apps you have installed as i believe 1gig is saved for shared internal programs/apps and if you have alot of stuff there maybe its blocking it?

The wierd thing is when i flashed i wiped first. I thought the same thing with u. I wiped again cause i thought sth has gone wrong and flashed again and again with no result.

Always i got stuck at the restoring gapps step. I also tried to push the gapps using adb getting with the same error. The only way i got it working was, flashing a rom with the gapps embedded.

I still cannot understand what was going wrong but i would like to know.

i want to try galaxo but flashing it looks involved

Installation of Galaxo/Galaxhero is literally an extraction of files from a zip archive, overwriting some system files and adding some new files. It is not a ROM in classic sense. Which is why you need to upload a custom recovery image to the phone, which will get root access to make such an operation.

It's worth a try and it's not THAT hard. Just be patient and follow the instructions.

Although I wouldnt' recommend installing Galaxo if you've updated to IK4 or IK5. Latest Galaxo is based on II5, so who knows....
