Desire WILL get the new SENSE!

kindly pardon my ignorance but what improvements are there in the New Sense if any?
The new SenseUI will have a smoother design with nicer graphics, transitions, and may have higher resolution icons. The taskbars will be semi-translucent with nicer integration along the edges. The notification pulldown bar will have recently used apps along the top. The large weather widget will have animated clock tines that appear to drop as the time changes and when you unlock the phone. It will also have DLNA support. It will have skins to customize it further (may be a replacement of scenes?). And also it'll have faster Maps rendering thanks to heavier caching on the SD card. And of course the boot time is much faster since the phone doesn't actually power off - it goes into a hibernate mode that uses very little power and stores the current memory state on the SD card, so it just needs to start up again and read the SD card data back into memory which takes a few seconds. It powers down in a few seconds too.

It will also have a lot of little changes and additions to settings and options. So lots of good improvements.

I phoned up HTC yesterday night after work, when i asked the women about the new htc sense ui relating to the 400 quid htc i JUST baught (2 months ago, kinda made it out i was peeved we weren't going to get the new sense) she quickly butted in and reassured me the new sense will be on the origional desire but she doesn't know when this is going to take place... I asked her for an educated guess and she said end of 2010 beginning of 2011.

I proceeded to make love to my desire under intimate candle light until my gf came home.

last parts bullcrap i dont do that on thursdays

Sense is more than a launcher, right? If I'm using Launcher Pro, would I see any of the benefits from the new Sense? Speed improvements, faster shutdown etc.?

Well i heard somewhere they cut down the start up from 45 seconds to roughly something like 10 seconds and as for shut down im not sure but if they decreased the start up time then surely they done the same for shut down. As for speed improvements, they would be silly not to add a little speed here and there in the new sense, allocate memory better, etc...

Sense has been a UI layer over Android, but I'm guessing this is a deeper UI as it alters how the phone is powered off/put to sleep. We probably won't know if you can use LauncherPro with it until it's released. Not that it matters to me, I never power off my phone unless I'm rebooting for some reason - it's always on assisting me with my daily routine. But I still want the other improvements.

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for contacting HTC Europe.

htcsense.com is only available for the device Desire Z and Desire HD. As they have not been launched yet,
registrating is not possible as this will have to be done on the device.

We have no information if any other device will have the ability to use this as they are designed for Desire HD and Desire Z.

... And I thought only the late Edward Lear invented words. HTC joins in? :p

Or I guess they meant - registration. ;)

OK, guess what? :D

Just got off the phone with some William at customer care. He says all devices with 1GHz processors running Android 2.2 WILL get the new sense.

When I asked him how sure he was, he said pretty sure. :)
And he said he had no idea about how long it will take, but most likely November.

If what he said was true, I think I'll go and dance a bit now.

This was my response:

Dear Jason xxxxx,

Thank you for contacting HTC.

At the current time Jason, nothing as of yet has been announced as to what features of the Desire HD/Desire Z will be released to the original Desire.

What I would recommend for you Jason is to regularly check online via our HTC website to see if any further information has been released regarding your question regularly.

I trust this resolves your enquiry. Please do not hesitate to contact us again, if required.

Exactly the same as the guy I spoke to yesterday at HTC. Confirmed it was coming, but couldn't give a date.

You know, I believe if we keep on trying, they'll finally give us a date or something.

I have vacations and free time anyway. So, I'll keep you guys updated. lol

UPDATE:
Another similar reply. I guess I'll wait for a week or so now and then ask again. Just jailbreaked my iPad. Time to devote attention to that :p

Dear xxxxxx xxxxxxxx,
