EVO availability for sprint employees and advantage club

Yea right. Being a swac and paying only $30 a month. Sprint would love if you leave to go to another carrier. Being a swac member you get what 60% cheaper than anyone else on any carrier? Im surprise sprint lets advantage members have an upgrade eligibilty at all, instead of paying full price for the devices. So please feel free to leave sprint. Maybe we can start getting raises again if enough leave. (this is to those advantage members complaining, it is different for Sero members)

Seriously. I have been a customer for 13 years. I have been on SWAC for a year. I have been a customer longer than most the people who have worked for the company. And, we had to wait and wait and wait. Now your telling me that only the employee gets the discount. Thats not right. If you had to wait you should be rewarded too. Swac members can just as easily go to another carrier. The discount is not that great when all you can use is feature phones and antiques. I might as well use cricket. It would be roughly the same phones and prices. And if you punish two groups for such an extended period of time you shouldn't say I know you both waited but we are only going to take care of you. SWAC members are customers too. I think that is forgotten somewhere. A lot of us mitigated our old regular accounts because we have been with Sprint forever and one of our family members got a job.

The SWAC ban should end TODAY.

I understand the sentiment, but somewhat disagree.

I wait -- and remain -- with SWAC because it is the best deal for me, hands down. SWAC is a benefit, so while I understand and partake in your angst, I still feel that I have little to complain about in the general scheme of things.

Also, I don't really see a problem with Sprint giving actual employees better terms than SWAC.

Of course, at some point, you ask yourself: does the cost benefit still outweigh the perceived hassles and inconveniences? If not, people will drop SWAC, and go to a "regular" account, or switch carriers.

Again, I am looking at SWAC as one thing: a benefit that I am fortunate to have. Not everyone will agree, but I put I HIGH premium on saving money on plans and devices, and I have no illusions that they make much money off of me. I consider myself as enlightened as any consumer out there, but I like a good deal.

Now... I need to get back to whining for the EVO... :D

The evo and epic are both confirmed for late october! I registered just to post this. I have a screenshot as proof, but due to confidentiality I will wait to post it. But this is confirmed. A letter was sent out today to sprint employees and I have it.

What is the difference between this letter and the one in September? It said "late October."

Yes i was indeed talking about the motorola es400. Forgive me my lack of memory. We (sprint employees) were informed about this device in sept, after reading it, havent bothered checking it out since then. I am waiting for the evo. Though debating to wait for the new one in march to be released. Its a matter of outweighing the problems the evo have compared to hope of lesser problems with the new one. I just hope the new one wont have the restrictions htc has amused us with, or the problems it has had. (screens literally falling off.) i still have 1 week left to make my decision, before we are allowed evos.

I'm not doubting that you received this letter from Sprint but it still doesn't give an exact date. That doesn't mean it will defiantly happen. I have seen letters before from Sprint saying September and still nothing. It would be nice to get an actual date from them.

It's disheartening that Advantage Club members have waited so long for the EVO and now we will not be eligible for the $50 promotion. That said, I agree with Tre: I am fortunate to have a SWAC account and realize that Sprint doesn't earn much money from me. My monthly service bill is significantly lower than all of my friends' and coworkers' bills. I have unlimited data and text and more minutes than I can use per month and my bill is typically one-quarter of what others pay for their smartphones.

In the end, I'd rather wait (impatiently) a few months for newer devices and save money on my monthly plan in the meantime.

New Day, new info?

Sprint Helper never replied to my email. I called the 2 Sprint Stores that are in the know. Town Center and P & L District. They both have no news. They don't know anything(and they are also upset about the wait) which is not there fault.

Personally I think if Sprint gave a firm date I would not be as impatient. Also, when companies give good information and is more forthcoming it makes customers and employees feel less alienated and more belonging to the business family. It would give you the feeling that you were part of the team. It is sad when individuals learn more from Boy Genius Reports than they do from their own management.

What all this comes down to is "failure to communicate."

Sprint releases its third-quarter financial results on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Employees have their quarterly all-hands meeting the following day. I was discussing with several Spring employees the rumors and hearsay regarding an Oct. 25 release date for the EVO to employees and SWAC members. Everyone finds it difficult to believe that the release would occur prior to the meeting. I think most believe that Dan Hesse will announce the phone's availability during the meeting.

Thanks for the info. It was truly informative and seemed pretty logical.

I responded to your email, sorry for the delay. It makes logical sense to release to employees on a nonholiday and nonsaturday due those are high volume days with long waits. This could very well crash the system if done on these two days of any week. It would not crash just employees but regular customer network as well since they are the same network. Most people wont know the actual release date cause they will be off work. And everyone knows only way to upgrade employee or advantage is through a sprint computer at work. Over the phone orders department was shutdown back in august i believe, so no one will be placing orders over the phone. Sunday on the 24th will literally split employee orders in half as that shift who will know about it the day of can place their orders on lunch, break, or after work. The other half wont really get the chance to order theirs until end of the week cause that will be their down time. Those with unofficial advantage club memberships have to buy theirs outright on ebay/craigslist. Sprint is fully aware of the unofficial members and hopes this will weed them out. Hence the shuttung down of employee telesales over the phone. This will be the bulk of the call volume at first but will die down within 48 hours (monday & tuesday) after they realize they are not getting an evo through normal means. These spike in calls will prevent the 2nd half of employees that start monday from ordering their phones cause most of them are also stupid enough to call employee telesales to place the order cause they forgot the memo back in july that said no more phone upgrades will be placed over the phone.. So They will think they just got an idiot rep who didnt know what they were talking about and continue to call themselves for another 24-48 hours until they realize they need to place the order through their computer online on friday... And dont forget the sad idiots who cant pay a $20 cellphone bill wanting to call in to make payment arrangements so they can order the evo without getting disconnected cause they didnt pay the bill in 3 months and wants to why their bill is so high and demand a credit on a $20 cellphone bill because they were charged a late fee and feel because they work sprint, they shouldnt have to pay it.
