Help Screen blank issue.

This has happened twice today.

Just before lunch, I took my phone out of my bag, and the screen was blank. I pressed the on button, expecting the swipe down lock thing to show, but nothing. I then thought maybe it was off, but it didn't turn on.
So - I did a battery pull, turned it on. It did the vibrate thing, but screen still not on.

Panic. FEAR!

Life without phone? WHAT WOULD I DO?

Did battery pull again. Same deal. Waited a bit - could FEEL the unlock code working, but obviously couldn't do it without seeing it.

Battery pull again. On. Never been SO happy to see the HTC logo. Went underground, hoping this weirdness was a one off.

Anyway - it did a weird blank screen thing again after coming out of the tube, but this time it came back of its own accord.

Eek? EEK!? (Working now, but NOT good to have had this happen. Advice?)

Sounds like BSOD (Black screen of death) where the phone comes unresponsive initially. This shouldn't exist after a battery pull though, so could be hardware.

Stock rom. I've started uninstalling apps, but it's currently blank again, so can't uninstall any more!

It's fine it I don't let it go blank - but since I looked away and it did, it's happened again. :(

Hard reset doesn't seem to do anything, but don't know if I'm doing it right as can't see anything.

So - how do I get to send it back to HTC? I've emailed the troubleshooting support thing and got an automated response, but now what?
