Facebook app update - no browser needed

Sounds like they finally included places too! I have been tricking my two iphone owning friends who thought they were so great cause they could do it and I couldn't. So I loaded up the browser version, went to places and said "yes I can see?". It will be nice to have a legit version now even though I was only checking in to the Phillies stadium and now I have to wait til April anyway!

Is there any way to not just check yourself in but others as well with you? My friends that have iphones can be like "noelpd" checked in at "chevys" with "Joe", "Bob", and "Jack".

It currently only seems to let me check myself in and no one else. Or maybe I am just not doing it right, any suggestions?

for those complaining about battery, did you set the app to sync contacts and such?

That's the thing, I have contacts sync once a day with "Facebook for Sense" and that's fine for the battery since I only have it set up to sync once a day.

It's when I use the regular Facebook app that 3G seems to be lit the entire time like it's downloading feeds and stuff in the background. I disabled updates on Facebook app too but that didn't help.

I left it on for an hour thinking it's just initial set up but it continued until I did a force stop. I'm just going to use the touch website form now on since it uses 0% of CPU in the background.

The facebook app on my old Storm was better than this is even with the "update" At least that did notify you of pokes and comments and well just about anything you wanted to be notified for. I have never received a notification since getting my Incredible.

I am not going back to BlackBerry over facebook or anything but this app sucks. I just use the full web site in the browser it works best for me.

The updated one gives you notifications... you have to enable it in app settings. That said, I still don't like it due to heavy 3G usage.

You have to set up the intervals in accounts and sync in the phones menu or else it won't update correctly. I set the app up to update @ 2 hours, and the phone @ 4 hours so that when the phone does, it will be up to date.

This is a little problem I have run across in the past couple of weeks. Not necessarily exclusive to the new update but a problem even before that. The Facebook for Android application does not post status updates, mobile picture uploads and now check-ins to my friends' news feeds and mine as well. They simply post directly to my wall/profile. Others having this issue are discussing it on the Facebook for Android thread at: Wall posts not updating on NewsFeed | Facebook
