Root TheUltimateDroid 2.1! :D

by reading a lot of the posts here im finding that i may of been one of very few that had issues with UD 2.1. 2.0 was great except for issues that where well known, mainly camera. 2.1 would freeze during use for 10+ seconds and would often fc. I did fix permissions with a very little improvement in performance. It was enough that i left UD again. If i had 2.0 with 2.1 camera improvements i would of found my favorite rom.

Is any one having problems with the Google search widget? it tends to hang or if not i start typing and it ask to close or report?

Using UD 2.1.0 with ChevyNo1 uLV 1GHz kernel on a Droid 1.

I tried several searches without any issues. I tried typing them and speaking them. I even tried starting a search from the softkey instead of the widget. I am running the stock UD 2.1.0 without a third party kernel. I hope this helps.

I have faith in BD that he will not release a nightly that is going to "brick" my phone. I cannot say that about any other ROMs as I ahve only flashed a couple others.

Last night, I flashed BD's latest nightly, and it did put my DROID into an endless bootanimation loop. No big deal of course, I just reflashed my nandroid backup. But if someone wasn't so smart...

It did or didn't put you into a boot loop?

Mine also went into a boot loop, but only after I activated the rotary dial lockscreen. Also, this is what almost everyone else is saying about last night's release. The rotary lockscreen seems to be causing the issue. If you turn that off, then flash the nightly, it will work.

Of course, that is besides the point by now since the next nightly should be coming out any time now... LOL :D:D:D

I understand what you are saying about some people not thinking about nandroids, but personally, I feel that if you are going to root your phone you really need to know how to troubleshoot and fix most minor issues, such as bootloops. Again, that is my personal feelings and thoughts on the subject.

Happy flashing!!!! (P.S. Try to not get arrested for being a serial flasher... LOL)

I have a question.

Why doesn't BD use rom manager anymore for his roms?
It certainly would be easier especially with web connect now.
And UD 2.1 is giving some good battery life with 60% battery after 12 hours unplugged. Hope it stays that way (knock on wood).
Is UD 2.1 being better for you guys in terms of battery life compare to UD 2 or 1.

BD doesn't use ROM manager anymore because of some issues in the past. I can't remember what I Googled to find it, but CM has something on his website about it.

However, that was in the past and BD has now become (in my OWN, PERSONAL OPINION) the best ROM dev that can combine stability, speed, and customization. Again, that is my personal opinion and may or may not reflect anyone else's opinions.

i have a problem. more of a user error... more of a user unable to find the right button...

when i get a notification of any sort i cant see the writing cuz its in black and my notification bar is black. where do i go to change the color?

Go to settings>Ultimate settings>user interface>notification colors and you can set multiple different colors in there.

Don't let that stop you: 2.1 is GREAT! And it looks like he's skipping a version and going to 2.3 :D

Why do you say that?

And can someone help me with a problem I'm having. For some reason I have to keep selecting swype as one of my keyboards. I am not part of the beta and I haven't seen if it happens when I turn off the screen or if I reboot.

Check your Swype install location. If it is on the SD card, every time you unmount and remount your SD, you will need to enable Swype again.

I have Swype installed on my SD card and it happens to me all the time. As far as I'm concerned, this is not that big a price to pay in order to save almost 10Mb space internally.
