Root Did Z4 Root work for you after 2.3.340 ?

I just got the root to work. I did the battery pull trick while it was trying to root. When I booted up the phone and reran Z4 it rooted right away. I was using V1.3

yup worked flawlessly. I was never rooted previously or anything. Make sure you have the newest version 1.3.0

I rebooted. And I also checked settings - applications - dsb debugging, and allow installation of apps from unknown sources. After that it went smooth as butter.

Also applied fabs new apex rom, can't believe how easy the entire process was.

Also I downloaded my update at like 2 am the night it was released (if there really are different ota updates).

So strange how it works for some but not others. When I first updated to. 340 (on the leak) I found Z4 version 1.3.0 and tried to root. It hung, I did a battery pull, tried again and it worked... but it took a good hour, hour and a half (not quite sure because I watched a movie in the meantime).

Then I accidentally reupdated my phone and lost root again. This time Z4 was in my app drawer so at least I didnt have to hunt for it. Tried it the 1st time, it hung. Pulled the battery, tried it a second time, it rooted in about 15 seconds.

So I've experienced both scenarios. I did make sure USB debugging was on. And I did do a battery pull before it would root. I was rooted previous to the update, but not by Z4Root. Oh and my cache was wiped after the update. Don't know how much any of that matters, just figured I'd mention it.

i did a factory reset and it still does't work... I even tried my other method that I originally used to root with no luck...

ota and factory reset and it still does not work with 1.3 or 1.10. was rooted before with another method and updated with root

I SBF'ed back to 2.3.15, installed the update, installed z4root, pressed perm root and it was done in 15 seconds

it may not work for everyone, but it worked perfectly for me

i did exactly what he did and mine worked flawlessly. literally 15 seconds and it was done

I don't know if I'm rooted now or not? Was rooted before the OTA via Visionary, OTA went fine, but now can't run wireless tether (which is the only reason I rooted to begin with). When I start z4, my options are temporary root, permanant root or un-root. Which should I try? Also, how can I tell if I'm rooted or not, other than wireless tether?

update: tried running ad free, says it was unable to get root access............. so I guess I'm not rooted, here goes.

I was rooted when I updated too. The method that I used last time isn't working either...

just did the OTA update.....z4root seemd to work for me!! I updated, did a factory reset, then rooted.

Took several times for me as well. Finally did the temporary root. Rebooted then did the full. Took after that in less than a minute.

Well I've literally been trying almost all day. Z4, visionary, adb... can't get this thing to root...

Apparently theres different versions of OTA! Some that root and some that dont!

Thanks! I think they may be onto something there... hopefully somone will figure out how to root the second build.

Z4 worked perfectly for me, I flashed back to .15 & OTA updated to .340. I didn't think it worked because it was done in less than 10 seconds....

When did you take the update? Was it in the first batch of updates that went out or did you do the one that came out today?

Do permanent root. You are using 1.3.0 right? You will have an unroot option with permanent root so do that one.

Why download v.1.0 when you can have the latest 1.30? Download z4root 1.3.0 for Android Free - z4root will root your device and enable you to supply system level access to applications that request it. - Softpedia

It didn't work for me after the update and when I clicked on "root" the phone rebooted after about 5 seconds. When I opened it the second time, it said it was rooted so apparently it repaired itself before crashing.

Me too, was quick and painless. Wireless tether works now works on my ipad. Life is good.

Z4 root app 1.3 works, just make sure USB debugging is enabled before performing a permanent root.
