How has the Droid saved YOUR A$$ ?

Rofl - yeah what's up w/ all the jeeps breaking down & the DROID coming to the rescue hahaha

In defense of Jeeps, we put them through a little bit more punishment than your average car. By little bit I mean vertical walls, grinding over boulders, driving through rivers, climbing high mountain passes, pushing through snow, etc, etc. It is nice to have good network coverage to help cya.

P.S. It's fun living in Colorado!!!

Last night was going out to eat with some (around 4) friends. Turns out more people kept calling and it would have been rude not to invite them, so about an hour before we're supposed to eat dinner, I counted around 10 people in our head and thought, oh great we'll never get a fast table now.

I searched for the restaurant through the Browser and was easily able to click on the phone number on the web page to dial the place. Made a reservation and everyone was impressed that I got a reservation an hour in advance. We didn't have to wait any more than 3 minutes. It was the first day of having my Droid too. :)

Well last night my child developed a pretty bad ear infection while staying with inlaws. While me and my wife was on our way I located a pediatric clinic open on weekends through a google search. Dailed directly from the search results page to speak to the front desk, promptly headed over there, and got a perscription for the medicine my child needed not long after.

Ok... I was taking the garbage out about a week ago and heard what sounded like a cat fight in my front yard. So I went to the front of my house to check it out. Nothing...
Then, I heard the noises come from my backyard, so I went back to check it out.
There in my backyard was my neighbor's dog with my other neighbor's cat in his mouth. He had it by the neck, pinned on the ground.
I know what your thinking... "What did you do?"
Well, the dog is a pit bull breed. I was not going anywhere near that dog to save this cat. I value my life more than his.
So I was pretty much standing there for a minute when my droid goes "DROOOOOOIIIIDDD!" from a instant message I had received.
The dog let the cat go, looked up at my direction and tilted his head with his ears up. Just then the cat swiped the dog with his claws, hissed and ran into the bushes. The dog yelped and ran out of my yard.

So, it didn't save my a$$ necessarily, but it saved that cat's a$$.

True story... :D

It's not really a life saver, just kind of cool: They have web cams at the day care where my granddaughter attends. I can pull up the web site and peek in on her during the day no matter where I am. I realize that you can do this from other smart phones but without this "big honkin' screen", you wouldn't be able to see much. It's VERY nice to have. :D

Nothing quite so dramatic as many of these incidents but just lots of little things that I think will add up to a lot over time. First of all, the phone is already leading me to communicate more with people; I can text message easily now, and the Facebook integration is handy (would be better if it included private messaging as well), and the contact sync, for the first time in my experience, simply works -- just like that. Second, the little conveniences -- the satellite nav not only working very well but also correctly estimating drive time with current traffic conditions which is very useful even if you know EXACTLY where you're going; having a transit tracker so I know when the next bus is due; having email on my phone for the first time; having top quality search features in a portable device; having a built in barcode scanner to check prices in the store. Third, having everything in one device. A workable camera? Check. Email? Check. Internet? Check. Calendar/Address book? Check. Shopping list? Check. Pen and paper substitute? Check.

I forward my college email to my gmail on my droid. Right before i left my house to go to class i decided to check my email because it had snowed the day before, but the campus wasnt closed. Turns out my English professor decided to let us email her our final papers instead of coming in to class and turning them in. I actually had the paper saved on my phone, in case of any issues or i needed another copy so i emailed it to her right from there! It was perfect! Love my phone!

google nav saved my ass this past weekend in NYC during the huge snowstorm. me and my friends were in an old 1997 honda civic, front wheel drive car. and it was a manual. no one friends were in an old 1997 honda civic, front wheel drive car. and it was a manual. no one had gps except on my droid. highways were pretty empty but traffic was going slow and the snow was coming down like crazy. visiblity was super low. we couldnt even see the exit signs. and the car's window fogging up didnt help either. relied pretty much solely on the droid's google nav to get home by following all its directions. accuracy was pretty much pinpoint accurate, even in that huge blizzard, which was surprising. rerouting was a cinch. real time traffic congestion was also accurate, although it wasn't really congested, more like slow moving traffic cuz of the snow. slow moving traffic cuz of the snow there are some annoying things i guess, like the ETA doesn't adjust based on the rate of speed that you're going. there's no street view display when you're traveling. i thought you could turn on street view and itll keep displaying each movement forward while driving, but i guess not.
