Android market up date

Be patient, OTA update will be distributed to anyone, but it takes some time. The same with updates, one get it on monday and his neighbor (same operator, same phone) one week later. Not sure, if it will be distributed also to cooked ROMS, but all official ROMs should get it soon.

Android market is just an app that should be updatable to everyone at the same like - like angry birds or something.

Didn't realise there was a new version! I've found the following from Google and am just trying it:

Updating Android Market

For Android 1.6 and higher, the Android Market application automatically updates itself when new versions become available. This is a silent update which means you will not see a notification and will not be prompted to update. Perform the following to ensure the latest version of Android Market is updated properly:

  1. Launch Android Market
  2. Switch to the Home screen
  3. Wait 5-10 minutes for Market to self-update
  4. Re-launch Market

To check the version of Android Market:
  1. Press Home, press Menu, and touch Settings
  2. Touch Applications
  3. Touch Manage applications
  4. Touch the All tab (Android 2.2 or higher), or press Menu, touch Filter, and touch All (Android 2.1 or lower)
  5. Scroll down and select Market

The version number appears below the Market title

After a fair few tries, I found that Gologle's advice, which I posted above, didn't work for me. But I've resorted to another tip I found on the web (I'd credit them if I could remember where) which does seem to have worked.

Go into Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> Running (or 'All' if Market isn't currently running)

Tap on the Market app and then clear the cache and clear the data. I was worried by the warning about losing databases, account details etc., but it turns out that nothing is lost - for me at least. I then pressed 'Force stop'.

When I re-started the Market app it still ran the old version, but after doing a few other things on the phone, I went back to the Market and it updated itself, remembering all my account details, the apps I'd downloaded etc.
