froyo is finally out!

no improved video resolution unfortunately still 352x288. Things are quite a bit smoother.

Market is the old version but once you restart it or restart the phone and let it sync it will update to the version released a few days ago.

It takes about 30secs longer to boot :( I've tried rebooting several times so it wasn't just the 1st reboot which was slow :(

Well the update went ok I suppose.
I got loads of error messages about calendar and Sync programs failing, force stop etc.
But after some searching about online I tried clearing the cache for calendar functions, Gmail and so on as per this thread:
com.htc.bgp - Android Forums

And restarted the phone, all was well.

Reception seems to be better as well, but maybe that's my imagination.
I don;t know if it's any faster yet though, we'll see.

I don't know if you'll get it from that information.
I can say I had to check manually to get it via Setting, phone unformation, check for update.
Also, I had to do this a couple of times for it to pick up the update, I checked at 8am this morning and said no update.
I checked again at 9am and it picked it up.

My phone is with Vodaphone, but unbranded.
Do you get any branded logos when it starts up?
What phone provider are you with?

how do you know if your phone is branded or not? I know it sounds stupid but... When I bought my Desire (Orange FR) there was a bunch of Orange stuff on it so it was pretty obvious that it was branded. However on my (gf's) Wildfire, that I also bought on Orange FR, there is no orange apps at all so I don't really know...

Still updating and am stuck on a screen with a little Android fella and an exclamation mark above him, been on this screen for past 20 mins or so now.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I don't remember seeing that myself.
I remember downloading the update, which took 10 minutes I guess.
Then it was on an install screen for a while (similar to the downloading screen), restarted, then another screen with an arrow with a circle around it and a progress bar.
It Sat on that for a while and restarted again.
Then the next time it restarted it errored on some sync errors.
After clearing some cache for exchange mail and gmail I restarted again and all worked fine.

I'm guessing you've had some sort of failure.
