Root Luvin' FroShedYo v10

Well I didn't go back to Nonsensikal. :) When I had White Widow installed, I was able to use my ringtones (music) for different contacts however I don't seem to be able to with v10. :( Am I missing something? I can't remember if I needed an app for that.

I put a folder on my sd card called "ringtones" and another one called "alerts" and drug all my ringtones and alert noises into them. Every froyo rom I've flashed I have been able to use them... Just set them under contacts>options. I've never had special apps to use them. V10 was no exception :)

I gave nonsensikal a shot and so far I think it's my favorite. It has had a couple camera issues(wich I seem to have with every rom for some reason  ) but it's been super smooth and stable and ive got my pic message issue worked out.

Anyway,hope that helps some :)

Thanks, I downloaded a ringtone app a few minutes ago. Working fine. I didn't go back to nonsensikal because I'm not having any issues to speak of. However I don't send pic's via text, I send them via e-mail from my computer. I turned on jit to check it out about two days ago and now it seems to be getting laggy.

After a clean install, what's the internal memory like? Some ROMs are absolute beasts and take up so much internal memory that there isn't much room for installing apps. I know you can do apps2SD, but I prefer not to.

This rom leaves plenty of room for apps. I have 75 mb free, and I have probably 20-25 mb of apps installed right now. The dev did a good job of making sure gmail, youtube, and maps were installed in system/app rather than data/app.

This is another good use for Titanium Backup, by the way. In menu->batch, there is a menu item that will move updates to system apps (like gmail) from /data to /system. In other words, when you download the update to gmail from the market, Titanium allows you to move the update back to /system.

Thanks for that tip... i've been doing it manually with root explorer. I didn't notice that option before in TiB.

Already WAY faster on xtrROM 4.65. Tough install but getting there. In one tenth the time.

Settings and media still force closing. Next i will try to install swype.

* Swype working. Still FC on media.

**Cache Cleaner NG seems to have cleared the problem.

*** Nope.

**** Cleared data on a bunch of stuff. Seems to be working.

ok so i finally going stick with this version of FroShedYo, because i believe it is the fastest, cleaniest ROM out there. With that being said, i have a couple questions to ask and im hoping for advice from you guys....

Whats the easiest way of uninstalling programs that comes with this ROM that i dont want/care for... ex.. twitter, GoogleVoice

Also what the safe programs to delete without messing up the system.

Another question is is there a way to customize the way of this ROM and then recompiling it and flashing the ROM again. For example, i like the notification bar of stock droid 2.2(white background and green battery icon) but i want to run FroShedYo.

There are probably pages talking about these questions, so links are fine or responses are fine too.

thanks logan

The easiest way to remove unwanted apps, in my opinion, is to use Titanium Backup. There is an 'uninstall' option on each app in the list.

http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/247749-what-safe-delete.html

Some ROMs allow you to save a configuration so that you can load it again, dig around in the various settings, look for something like 'save theme'.
To my knowledge there is no way (for us lesser beings, I'm sure EU1 or Scary could do it :) ) to actually recompile your setting so that you can reflash it.
However, a nand backup makes an exact copy of your phone, apps and all, so you could do that. In fact you SHOULD do that before you start deleting apps, that way if you delete something critical you have a 'safe' place to go back to.

Scotty and Bobcat I also have the menu problem which is when I am in my email app and select menu, I can see everything fine. But when i select more options i can not see any of the words. If I look real close or hold my hand on it(it wil highlight). A fix to this would be cool.

If not may have to go back to Nonsensikal!

If you are really ambitious, there is this: [DEV TOOL] EasyDev-v6 - "Roll Your Own" [12-23-10] - xda-developers

You can rebuild as often as you like to update to the latest and greatest CyanognenMod stable version, and you can probably alter that script to change it from the stable build to the latest nightly build.

i never did figure it out. i changed every color setting i could find and none of them fixed it :( from what i understand, its a known issue that prolly the developer will have to fix and provide an update for.

i liked froshedyo alot... but i went back to nonsensikal. it was alittle more laggy for me than what nonsensikal is... but the main reason i went back is the trouble i was havin with pic messages. nonsensikal is the happiest about sending them of the 3 roms ive tried so far :)

I'm still with FroShedYo and suspect I'll be with it for awhile. Other than that one problem, I'm happy with the Rom.:)

Yeah I really like this ROM alot. The only thing i still dont understand is what in the hell is Flip Animation? I have seen numerous people mention it and say how cool it is but I have no Idea what it is or does!

I wondered the same thing. After making your selection ( mail, market, etc. ) and as you move in the app, notice how the screens act. They flip.:) Some of the other fellas may have a better explination but that's the way I see it.:)

mmkay so i went to xda to download the fix for the black on black, and decided to download and flash froshedyo vanilla :)

so far so good, havent messed with the camera yet,but its super smooth-definatelty as good as or better than nonsensikal. the keyboard is the same as whats on my droid,so i like it alot.

havent played with the camera and sending pic messsages yet,but i like it alot. im definately going to load my v10 backup and flash the black on black fix and give it another shot, but i think ill stay with this for a lil while... at least the rest of the day :p

one thing that confuses me is no music app? guess ill hafta find one in the market to listen to music on my phone?

Did U all see the v10 Fix for black on black is up on the FroShedYo link?!

Ok that was fast! I flashed it and it works Perfectly. No complaints now. Out of all the different ROM's that I have messed with so far, this seems to be extremely stable.

I had a few minor hiccups (gallery froze up and got distorted) but all in all it really seems to handle nicely. I really like the fact that I only have to press the end call button once when I am done with a call. That use to drive me nuts with the sense dialer.

One night I got off the phone with my ex and didnt realize that the End call did not work, and she then listened to me bad mouth her for the next half hour to my wife. That was a Fun Time:eek:
