I recently entered a password for my screenlock. Immediately after this, the phone would not recognize the password I entered, and I cannot access my phone. Is there any way to reset this?

Have you tried entering similar codes, in case you made a typo? For example, try 2678 instead of 3678.
Other than that, if you don't have the code... that sucks. Someone on the desire Z boards was talking about a bug where the screen lock would be skipped if he opened the device, but none of us could recreate it. Maybe you could, it's worth a shot.
I guess do a factory reset and restore from your backup. You keep backups, right?
