Any Incredible owners moving to the Thunderbolt?

BTW, am I the only one that doesn't care about 4G at all? It will be more expensive, it will be worse on battery life, and I don't really need the extra speed boost over 3G, which is already fast enough for me and I am usually on WiFi most of the day anyways.

Chalk me up as Not Interested in 4g also. I mean, if it came at the same price as 3g then why not? But I certainly wouldn't pay extra for it.

Chalk me up as NI for the Thunderbolt too. Even if my contract were up, it doesn't interest me enough over the DInc.

As I haven't even had my Inc for a year, I will not be getting a Thunderbolt. That being said, even if I were up for a new phone I would most likely wait. I think HTC dropped the ball by not going with a dual core phone. With the prospect of dual core phones not all that far off I think they really missed the ball on this one.

Oh well, Come June of 2012 who knows, maybe I'll be holding out for a quad core smart phone.

Did I hear you people want a screen thats up to 6" big?! I think the screen size on the incredible is IDEAL for a phone. Size is probably the main reason I wont be switching to a TB, I love the form of the inc too much. I think the X is too big but I can accept it as still being a phone. Any bigger and you are approaching tablet size tho. I feel like I am hating on a few of you and I don't mean to but I mean come on, I hope you have a purse/bag to carry whatever monster you're dreaming of in!!

The Dell streak size would be ideal for me ;)

Everybody has their own needs and wants, I hope Verizon has lots of options for everybody coming in 2011.

Why would I want a MASSIVE 4.3" screen tablet? It cant even fit into a pocket. My friend has the Evo and he HATES it. Its so annoying carrying it around every where. Whats the point of having a phone that does not fit into your pocket...

I was at CES and looked at the TB. I thought the same thing about it's size. They let me put it in my pocket, I was wearing jeans. Of course it was bigger and heavier then the DI but wasn't awful.

As for speed, it was extremely quick. I loaded google maps in less then 2-3 seconds. The new Sense was really nice as well. More camera options, feature for loading most used apps. I'm on the fence about upgrading but would definitely consider it.

They let you hold and play with the Thunderbolt? I've seen videos were all they could do is ask the guy to do whatever, and when asked to hold it he said no, twice actually they asked.

I plan on keeping my Incredible until my (final) NE2, which is April of 2012. The only thing that would make me have any desire to upgrade would be an Incredible 2 launching by summer with the updated Snapdragon chipset found in the Thunderbolt, and 4G support. It would have to retain the EXACT same form factor though, as I'd want to keep my current accessories.

Otherwise, I see no reason to upgrade. I don't like the larger form factor of the Thunderbolt (it's why I chose the Incredible over the X and the Fascinate). I don't have any use for a FFC, but I won't knock it for being there. By the time it launches, we should have the New Sense on the Incredible. While I haven't heard anything since, HTC via their Spanish Twitter account did state that their existing line would be updated to it.

However, I think what we're going to see here is New Sense on 2.2, and likely no official update to 2.3. We'll see though.

I won't move on from my Incredible until the new phones are at least running Gingerbread. I don't need another phone that runs 2.2 with basically the same specs. What I want is a 4 inch Samsung phone with Super AMOLED that receives timely OS updates. So the phone I want doesn't exist.

The Incredible still kicks ass! I have no interest in any of these first gen 4G phones. The Thunderbolt isn't even a glorified Evo in my opinion.

One thing that I would like to see is, and correct me if I'm wrong, true imaging HDMI from phone to TV. It's called something along those lines. I would also like to see a front camera to use with a solid working preinstalled video phone call app. The obvious speed up in the processor and internal memory.

Do we even know what we'll be paying for 4G service yet? Not modems, cell usage...

Let me throw in one more thing. Hey Verizon thanks for getting rid of new every two. Really gonna keep a lot of customers around. You go ahead and pull all the At&t customers over to your network so they can get their precious *phone in turn opening up their network for me to enjoy.

If Verizon ups their data plan for 4G it's back to the good old basic phone for me. It's not worth my money.

What you want is the Nexus S. It's just not on Verizon.

The Nexus S needed two things for me to want it:

1. Availability on Verizon
2. A MicroSDHC slot

Even then, it would have had to been available around the time I bought my Incredible in August. Now, it's more of a side-grade than an upgrade. So, even if it did meet the above two requirements, I wouldn't bother with it anytime soon.

Hopefully that, by the time I'm eligible for an upgrade, they have the latest Nexus on Verizon.

Yeah...they let me do whatever I wanted. I searched the web and played with Google Maps. The LTE was super fast. I didnt think there would eb that much of a difference but I was so wrong.
It was crowded so I only had a minute or 2 but it was enough to get a good feel for the phone.

I am definitely upgrading. I have loved my Incredible but the ThunderBolt has a lot to offer in my opinion. Improved processor, larger screen, 32gb micro sdcard, improved body design, DLNA, Skype video chat and 4G ability. I'm sold although I'll probably shoot for a one year contract from now on. These smart phones are my one indulgence, so thats my final justification. :)

That's what she said.

I use my phone as a tablet computer more than an actual phone(I spend 10 hours a day on a phone at work). I am looking for a true all in one device. I do not mind the bulk. I would carry around a 7" if someone would make it.
Sounds like you need the galaxy tab!! Or wait a min and get the Xoom, that things looks bad*ss (10' screen, dual-core, honeycomb)
And if Verizon ever gets the iPhone, like the rumors keep reporting, I might be looking at a new carrier. I can only imagine that adding probably hundreds of thousands of new iPhone users to a network that alreads has hundreds of thousands of Android users will put a massive strain of the system. Massive number of iPhone users + Massive number of Android users = massive data traffic. So if Verizon does get the iPhone it will be interesting to see how their network handles all the extra traffic.
While i'm not an expert i know that because of the difference of cdma compared to gsm, verizon's (and sprint for that matter) cdma towers can handle HUGE amounts more data/calls that at&t's. You wouldn't see any difference in signal/data if/when this happens i would guess
I'm going for either the TB or the bionic if boot loader is unlocked I think. The thing is, my area doesn't get 4g yet, so I wonder how pricing will be, will we have to pay for something we aren't capable of using, or just charged when in 4g area?
Sprint gave some line when they did it about how just if you didn't live in a 4g area you might still travel to one therefore they still had to charge you 4g price, which was an extra $10 a month. No clue how big v gonna handle it though
I was thinking of getting the Thunderbolt, but I kinda want to hold off until theres a Honeycomb handset out there. Gingerbread sounds like an improvement of Froyo, but its not a complete overhaul/upgrade.
All reports state that Honeycomb is a tablet ONLY OS. You will not see it on any phones at all i would suppose.
I've heard mixed info on the Thunderbolt. Some say it WILL be the new dual-core, others say it's the same Snapdragon that we already have. I am VERY interested in it though...
Read through the first page of this thread, believe it was euph who explained the difference the best. Its not dual core, it is an updated version of the incredibles cpu. Also check here

I paid full price for my Inc, I'm poor now (recent grad.. no job) and I'm sending it out for a new screen and charger port. With those fixes it'll be in perfect condition and I can't upgrade for a year. So unless Verizon hires me (fingers crossed) no new phone until Christmas.

TBs not enough of an upgrade for me anyway though.
The Bionic seems like a good choice, but I stupidly bought an android phone with motoblur that was never updated and I still can't bring myself to buy a Motorola phone

You got the back flip didn't ya? lol

lol. If this is true, you have a defective device and should get it replaced.

Verizon told me that my phone is fine, and that they don't guarantee signal inside of buildings. I had Best Buy send it out under my Black Tie protection. They re-soldered the antenna to the board. It works a little better, but still not as good as the D2. Besides using it at work, i love this phone!

I think I will be staying with the Incredible, this is my 2nd one and it is far superior to my first Incredible and finally I am happy this phone suits my needs just fine and see no need to pay extra for the 4G tiered plans. Maybe in the next year one of the new phones will intrigue me, but as of now pretty well satisfied with my phone. :D:D:D:D:D

I'm torn. Part of me really wants this just for the larger screen and prospect of better battery life (I'm figuring), and 4G when it's available.

The other part of me is going to be deployed for 6 months around the end of the year, and doesn't have any serious expectation of 4G hitting my end of my county before that time. It's not gonna be worth a major out-of-pocket expense to upgrade to a phone that will, basically, just be a change of a 0.6" larger screen and a front facing camera.

If I can sweet-talk VZW into doing me the upgrade on the cheap (10 year customer), I'd take it. Otherwise I'm waiting til after my deployment and seeing what's on the slate in 2012.

Don't think so. I'd love if Verizon ever got a stock Android phone like the Nexus S, although it may never happen. I've fallen in love with my Incredible since rooting and installing Cyanogen 6. Now, Cy7 is out (Gingerbread) and the first nightly build I flashed is running like a champ. Gingerbread is awesome. Sad thing is, my screen is cracked all to hell on the bottom right and I still love this phone, lol.

The only thing that could possibly make me want to move on from this phone is if the Droid Bionic has an unlocked bootloader. Gingerbread+ on that thing would be ridiculous. And I would love to have a bigger screen than what I have.

Realistically though, if the Bionic doesn't have an unlocked bootloader, I would like my next phone to have these specs:

4-4.3" Super Amoled Plus screen
1 GB DDR1 or 512 DDR2 RAM.
Dual-core processor
5+ MP back camera
Camera on front.
4G capability
Vanilla Android, or easy to root
HDMI out port
1800+ mah battery

That's pretty much my dream phone, and it is completely possible. iPhone 5 may actually cover most of that, minus the Android anyways. So I don't see why Motorola, HTC, Samsung, or one of these other manufacturers couldn't make that. It'd be the ultimate phone.
