Hi, got my x just recently, updated to 340 OTA and it came with 2.2

Now, problem 1: i cannot open my gallery app. it acts like it wants to open, but it just jumps to the homescreen. BACKGROUND: i am rooted, no roms, but it did this before the root. I had the HideItPro app, but i removed it and it still does this. the only way i can access pictures is through the camera and that is a pain. but most of all, i would like my new phone to work like it should! i have tried rebooting and battery pulling.

problem 2: i cannot remove the LockMyDroid app. i have tried multiple uninstallers (for root and otherwise) and i am still getting nowhere. Its freaking me out haha!

problem 3: this is probably due to service, etc, but my phone will stop getting texts and wont send picture messages. this always happens together, and a message pops up saying "national access coverage not available". tried rebooting and the picture will send, but no texts. i have to call a number (any number) and i will get a flood of texts. any ideas?

thanks for your time

do you have your contacts backed up with the verizon backup assistant?
if you do you can go into the backup assistant via your account on the verizon website and export all your contacts to a file that you can import into your gmail account.
it makes things a lot easier.

i didn't see anything on my verizon account.
I read other android phones having the same issue and used
Haxsung SDX Custom Custom ROM Kitchen
to fix the error. but i think it doesn't work for the X. Isn't there a way to do it so i dont have to erase everything and put it all back and change all the settings to have it how it was.(to much time and hassle)

have either of you tried a factory reset?

Eh....like droid119 i would hate to lose everything i have worked towards (ie my phone set up like i want it). How would i go about doing this? or do you of know a certain how-to thread?

appreciate your time

With less than a week into X ownership, I've recognized that with all my downloads and apps and files, I'm in for some real cussing sessions if I have to reset.

Maybe some of the veteran X'ers are spoiled by all the freeware in 'droid land, but I'm not gonna get setup for failure for a lousy 5 bucks. My time is worth... well, more than that.
"Droid X App #4: MyBackup Pro

WaveSecure can back up and restore some of your phone's data, but for an even more robust backup option, an Android app called MyBackup Pro is well worth grabbing.
MyBackup Pro, currently $4.99 in the Android Market, can back up practically everything on your phone: contacts, call logs, bookmarks, text messages, system settings, and files from all the other apps you've downloaded. MyBackup Pro can even back up your Android home screens, so if your phone's ever lost or damaged, you can restore your custom setup in seconds.
MyBackup Pro lets you schedule regular automated backups of whatever data you want to either your phone's SD card or the company's secure online servers. With the latter option, you can restore all of your information to any Android phone -- be it your current Droid X or another device -- anytime."

what i did the other night when i did my first ROM flash was
log into my verizon> Hover cursor over "my services" and click on backup assistant >there is a tab below and to the left of the alphabet that says actions, drop it down and click export. the file will need to go through an email client like outlook, email it to yourself > then download the file > go into your gmail > click contacts > at the bottom of the contact there is a tab to "import contacts" go into there and import the backup file.

now all your contacts will be in your gmail. if you do have to do a data wipe and start from scratch all your contacts will sync when you int=put your gmail info when you first start the phone back up.

also use appbrain to at least back up the list of apps you have if you are not rooted.

a factory reset is the only way i know of to fix the missing market.
maybe somebody else will eventually chime in with another way.

the factory reset isn't that bad, especially with 2.2, as the Market/Google has a list (backup) of all the apps you have installed.

honestly, I have done 3-4 factory resets, and I rather prefer changing my icons around. It really doesn't take that long, i get rid of unused apps, and I'm down to only using 5 screens.

Here is what I did that fixed mine:

Go to Menu, Settings, Applications, Manage Applications. Select the All Applications tab at the top. Look for Gallery, Media Content, and Media Container Services, then for each one, clear Data and Cache if anything in there.

After you have done that you need to reboot your phone and wait a little bit. All photos should be restored and the gallery should be working again.

shit. i just restored it. all it did was delete everything. but not bring back the original apps. everything still the same. Market kept memory and re downloaded all my apps which is good. but nothing changed. only thing is my home page needs to be re done. i need an actual fix. If anyone can save and send me the gallery.odex file it'd be much appreciated cuz i think i really need it to even start bring my gallery back=/
