What features do you want on the Evo 2?

I would actually love to not have any reason to root. It'd just save me time. From a general consumer standpoint, they'll end up still running into the same issue.

@ BlueScreen:

Thanks for the info! Now I'm even more pumped up (I actually did multiple fist pumps while reading you post above). I do have one question that I don't think you (expressly) addressed.

Will the new EVO be 4G-enabled? If so, will it be Wi-Max? LTE? Both? That's what I wanna know. Thanks again for all the info BlueScreen. This is why Android Forums rocks!

Thanks BlueScreen, that info is just what we needed!

I did catch the possibility that the screen will be bigger, I have always asked for a 4.5-5" screen, is this something you can comment on? Being Sasquatch size I think a 5" would be awesome, but I could compromise with a little smaller for the "little people".;)

Other than that, I am very happy with what I am reading!

I know I'll be in a small minority on this, but I would really like to have a hardware switch that mutes all ringers / alerts / ... (a switch like many of the Palms have). I realize it's not hard to turn all the sound notifications off as it is now, and there are audio managers that make it quick. But the physical switch, quick, definite, no worries, is great in situations where the sound Must be off quickly but you don't want the phone to be completely off.

I would like to know the same things as well.

Thanks for the info BSOD. Makes it a lot easier for me to hold out for this new phone than jump ship right now.

This was my question too. Where we at with the 4g radio. It obviously has one as it bears the 4g tag but does it have just Wimax or Wimax + LTE capable for the future? I have a feeling this may be something he can't tell us just yet but either way, thank you again bsod!

Wow, Blue Screen, thanks for all the info!

What I would really like to see on the new Evo...

1: Camera that doesn't scratch when you sit it down. Mine is all scratched up on my OG Evo.

2: Better use of 4G. I would prefer to leave mine on all the time without it killing my battery. But assuming I turn it off to save battery, I would prefer it turn on and off a lot quicker than it does on my OG Evo. It takes like a minute or 2 for 4G to turn on right now on my OG Evo.

3: Reversing fixed on the front camera. If I make a video of myself sitting in the driver's seat of a car, it should not look like I'm in the passenger seat when I view the video. This is a problem on my OG Evo.

4: An office suite. I know, there are options in the market. Still, a smartphone should be able to edit a word doc or excel spreadsheet (or a pocket word doc created on an old HTC windows mobile phone) out of the box. Even just a small app that utilizes google docs would be nice.

5: DLNA. I know there are apps for this too, but a smartphone should have DLNA out of the box.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but that is a list of things that should hopefully be easy to implement at the 11th hour...

LOL, I almost forgot to post the thing that I probably care most about..

I would really like to see some docks like the Atrix. Give me something that turns it into a laptop, and something that turns it into a desktop (connects to desktop monitor, keyboard and mouse), and something that connects it to a home theater with remote control.

Thanks for popping your head in to give us inside info, BlueScreen. I'm surprised they didn't increase internal memory. That has become a huge issue for me because any app that can't be moved to sd, I have to make sure it doesn't take up too much memory. For non-rooted customers, which is majority of the general consumers, it sucks gettin "out of memory" errors.

I feel the same way. This is why I was hoping for at least 8GB of internal memory.

Has anything ever been mentioned about a possible EVO 2? Do we think there will be one? Other than the Droid 2 I can't recall any direct "sequels" to Android phones. But considering this was Sprints first big time Android phone and first Wimax phone do you think there will be one to bank on the name of their most successful phone to date? I really like the form factor and other features such as the kickstand which we aren't seeing on any other phones yet. I know there will be some great Android options to choose from on Sprint but would lbe nice if Sprint and HTC came out with a more powerful version come upgrade time. I assume that if it's going to happen the plans are already laid.

I know this is old, but screw it lol

I want a physical keyboard, same if not bigger screen and device size, front and back camera, LTE and WiMax, better battery life even if it makes the phone bigger, more internal memory, better for user system apps, and I think that about does it. And put all that over the original Evo design.

Please keep putting up your wish list of items, doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, but doesn’t mean we can’t squeeze it in (Somehow) Enjoy the show.
Cheers,

I registered just to reply to this post. First, I wanted to say thanks for the info BlueScreen! I told myself I wasn't going to upgrade my EVO this year, but it's going to be impossible to resist with specs like those!

I do have one huge request if it's possible to get it through in time: please add support in sense for hardware Bluetooth controllers, such as the Wii Remote using this app.

I know HTC has a long history of Bluetooth HID Profiles for external keyboards and controllers not working with sense, but hopefully HTC can buck the trend with the EVO 3D...

I would be tickled pink if the battery didn't have to be taken out to get to the micro-sd card.

And if out of the gate, FPS wasn't capped to 30 frames.

And if also the battery on a charger wouldn't drop down to 90 before it recharged again, could it be done down to 95 or even 97 before recharging on the charger and preserve the health of the li-ion battery?

Thanks for stopping by, bluescreen. :)

I agree. I had to buy an external charger for my Evo battery. Charging the phone directly just does not work right. Please fix as it it the number 1 complaint from my non-techie friends that have Evos
