Help cliq xt android 2.1?

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if mid-August was when they were going to announce the release of 2.1 rather than just rolling it out.
Why would they announce it... again? Moto has already announced that 2.1 will be released. I can _promise_ you this... they won't announce _when_ it's going to be released... they will just release it.

I actually like this little phone. It just doesn't have enough screen Real Estate to accommodate all the widgets (theirs leave *little* room for my personalization).

That being said, I think that the T-mobile Roadmap is probably accurate as to when we'll receive the update. It looks like mid August (next week) but the Road Map has a TBA for the actual date. So far, the road map has been true to form with every other phone. I don't know why the The Cliqs should be any different.

Let me reiterate and clarify: I wouldn't be surprised if mid-August is when they just announce the official release date of 2.1 rather than just releasing it then. Nah'mean?

Mark, one of the moderators at the Motorola Support forums, created a stickied thread and locked it so that posters can subscribe to it and receive and e-mail notification of when he posts the release date of 2.1's roll-out. If it were to be released as soon as next week, you'd think he'd probably announce it in that thread by this time.

Generally speaking, the Roadmap isn't about announcement dates, they are drop dates. So, it is showing that the Cliqs receive the update in mid August with the actual drop date TBA. Now, none of this is written in stone and all remains to be seen. But, this is T-mobile's timeline (Roadmap) (as opposed to Motorola's). They are telling us that Motorola has scheduled the updates to be pushed out but are not given the date that they appear on and pushed out over T-mobile's servers. Again, all of the above is in light of what has transpired with every other phone that Tmobile plans to drop or update.

The significance is that this was an Inter-office memo that leaked and all information has so far happened pretty much as stated. There is still reason to be hopeful! I guess you can be glad that you're not a Behold 2 owner. Not only is the Behold2 not getting updated, but it is rumored that it is being pulled altogether!!! Talk about shafted...smh

I hear both sides, some saying Motoblur isn't going anywhere and others saying they're doing away with it. I don't mind motoblur, the widgets make things quick to access and with 5 or 7 screens you got plenty of room for all that, but vanilla Android would probably make the phone perform a bit faster.

Since Mark the MotoGuy has said that nothing is going to happen before late Q3 or early Q4 on 2.1 - It's about getting into another phone for Christmas 4 me. I think that Moto's trust factor has hit the skidz and few people believe that 2.1 will ever come or that when it finally *does* come, the rest of the world will be at 3.0.

As to the Roadmap, it was Tmobile's. Since Tmo is waiting to receive the update to deliver it OTA, they were no doubt duped also.

My apologies to HotGhettoMess. I really thought that because every other phone on the Tmo Roadmap was right on schedule, that the Cliq XT would not be the sole deviant. My bad.

I am actually quite happy with this phone so far... after 4 Samsung Behold 2 (dont even get me started on those f-*****) I am glad to ride the moto bus. 2.1 will come... if not there is a leaked ROM out there somewhere if you want to go searching... and more to come since it has root now

I agree, glad to get rid of the Behold 2.

We should have 2.1 working soon enough. I was able to install a version of it and got it to work except for RADIO (Cell and Wifi), Keyboard Layout.

But the camera, bluetooth, and GPS seem to be working.... We shall see what happens in the next couple of days.

I am as happy as the rest of you to get as far away from the Behold 2 as humanly possible. And as I said before the Cliq XT is a nice little phone. Officially, however...

As I posted on the other thread, I'm pretty much past the point of indifference...

...though it *is* amusing that right about the time this phone will allegedly be upgraded, the phone I plan to replace it with should be on its way out.

For all you disappointed CliqXT users, I recommend the new MyTouch 3G HD coming out:
1) 1Ghz processor
2) 2 cameras-- front one (like the iPhone4) and rear one with LED flash
3) HSPA+ capable
4) No annoying physical keyboard like the MyTouch Slide
5) 12GB standard memory
6) Android 2.2 from the jump
7) And best of alllll.... no g**damn Motoblur!

I have barely blurred 2.1 keyboard/bluetooth working, NO WIFI, and NO RADIO. I have been at this for 2 days and I want to puch my phone in half. Thank god for nandroid.
I have modified Barely Blurred yet again to get to work with keyboard, radio (3g), GPS. However I lost some function so no camera, no bluetooth, no vibration, no camera and no wifi.

Nonetheless, it is very stable and I have been using it for a few days now.

Moto finally ended the charade and announced that they would not be releasing 2.1 for the xt. If you want 2.1, you'll need to root your phone.
Wow... how tragic. Or better yet, how expected.

Well, lemme say this: those of you who were still holding out, or who are stuck in contract, I implore you to vote with your feet, and NOT give Moto your business on your next purchase. This is completely unacceptable.

The LAST THING you should do is get the new Cliq2 or the Defy. Go to HTC or someone.
