aTAKEphONE released

Hi all,

Version 1.47 just released at the Android Market and at my own website (ShSh Software)

- Fixed menu graphics for Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3).
- Clearing missed call/s icon no longer works on Gingerbread (blocked by Google), so restored "go to system call log" menu option.
- Fixed numbers search.
- Hopefully fixed the crash reported above (?).

As always - you can get the full featured 30 days trial at my website.

Thanks !

FYI - something else I miss about Dialer One is the ability to long-press on a number in the call log and copy the number to the clipboard.

Hi,

It's there -
long press an entry in call log to open it in "details" screen.
long press the number in that screen to popup a number - select "Copy" from popup menu.
You can also add it to favorites, or i-Bar.
You can also save it to an exiting contact or create a new one.
You can schedule a call in your calendar.
You can view all calls to that number in the call log.

Thanks

Ahh... I had the "Tap and HOLD" for the call log set to "Popup actions menu". Is there a way to do it when configured this way?

Hi,

Not directly - you can select "Open details" and from there - tap & HOLD the number...

I will add "Copy" to the popup list.

Thanks

"Open details" isn't an option (that I see). If I tap & hold on a call log entry, the actions menu shows only:

Call xxxxxxxxxx
Send SMS
View Contact
Calls History
Schedule a call
Remove from call log

The only reason I setup tap & hold in the call log the way I did was I was trying to make aTAKEphONE more "Dialer One"-like. But after your original response I tried setting tap & hold to open details and I actually like that better.

If I were you, I wouldn't make changes to the actions menu based on my observations alone. My feeling is that when popup menus get long enough to scroll, they become significantly less usable.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for displaying the call log on the find/call tab, but displaying contacts there has been a more usable substitute than I expected.

Dowloaded it yesterday & tried it & this app is pure garbage. Then I saw that I only had 15 minutes for a refund = RipOff!!

Instead of saying it's pure garbage, why don't you say what you didn't like because you probably don't know how to use it. If you read the reviews here, you will see that most everyone likes it and the developer is very responsive. Also, everyone knows by now that Google only allows 15 minutes to refund an app. That is not the developer but Google.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you feel this way.
As mentioned above - the 15 minutes is Google policy.

If you like to try the app for a longer time - there's a full featured 30 days trial at my website: ShSh Software

I would be happy to hear what you did not like about the app - lots of what the app does (not always visible at first glance - I admit) is based on users feedback.

Thanks.

Hey there.. I just realized there is a feature from your original Palm version that never made the port to Android and I'm wondering if there was a reason as it was quite useful.

The old feature worked like this..
You could tell the system that if you dialed any '4' , '5' or I think even '6' digit number to pre-pend a series of numbers automatically when you hit call.

This was great for corporate offices who typically all have the same area code and prefix and only the last four numbers differ by person.

For example I used to be able to just type in 2323 + call, and it would automatically prepend 555-154- in front of the 2323. (Note that's a fake number, but go ahead see who you get haha).

Was there a reason this wasn't brought over? I'm just more curious than anything as I was showing someone the android version the other day and they actually pointed it out to me. I remember it was one of my favorite features back in the day. (My new company has 3 different telephone exchange numbers now, so I don't need the function myself).

I had made a couple of suggestions a while back that you were going to take a look at and just wanted to know the status:

1. The option to show the company name under the person's name in the find screen. As I mentioned, I use my phone for business and have over 1300 company contacts and when then persons name is long, I can't see the company name. It would be nice to have an option to display this under the persons name in a smaller font, maybe the size of the phone number font.

2. On the widget, it would be a good option to have a pop up when selecting a contact to dial another number, email, or sms that contact.

Thank you.

Hi,

Yes - this is on my todo list.

Will add this.

Thanks.

Hi,

Did not forget this.

I have a long list of things to add. Problem is I am real busy on 3rd party projects (got to make a living...)

I will get to it - hell - I miss this, too.

Thanks

I like the widget, but could the background be made optionally transparent? I'd also like the option to fade the little photo icons a bit, I don't use photos in my contacts, I'd prefer just little boxes with the names of the people instead of empty heads :)

Hi,

Wrote this down for when I get back on the widget.

Thanks.

Surprisingly, I only just discovered that with the "tap on a call entry" in the "call log" tab configured to "call default phone", the default phone os not called when you tap on the call entry - the number for that entry is called.

The scenario in which I discovered this is that I have a contact configured with a default number (his work number). He called me from his home number, which is also listed in his contact entry. When I tapped on the entry in the call log, it dialed his home number instead of his work number.

Hi,

Sorry - mistake in the phrase - it should be "call listed number" or something like that - it's meant to do what it does - call back the number for that call.

Thanks
