Help Captivate needs "Hands Free"

I am having problems with my Samsung Captivate(and the new At&T Andriod 2.2 upgrade) working hands free with the Motorokr S9 stereo headset. It wont connect from the headset to make calls, but after initiating the call from the captivate, everything works. Music works, but just no connection from the headset for calls.
Is there any application that works with the Captivate (Andriod 2.2) that gives complete hands free dialing.
I have tried Vlingo (it wont connect, and after the upgrade, doesnt even recognize the commands it previously did before the upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2)
I have tried Voice Actions (it does alot, but not hands free)
Also tried Choice Dialer Plus (it is pretty much useless)
I need something "Complete Hands Free" :thinking:

Except for the hands free issue, Vlingo (before the 2.2 upgrade on my Captivate) was by far the most useful app on my phone.

Unfortunately, afaik, the simple answer to your question is "NO"...and that does suck. However, custom roms on 2.2.1 will have that. Will the stock 2.2 be upgraded to 2.2.1? I wouldn't hold my breath

This has been discussed to length on this forum. Android 2.2 supports Bluetooth voice dialing, but Samsung's version of Android 2.2 on the Captivate does not seem to support it. To have the capability you would have to get Samsung's version of Android 2.2.1 or higher which require flashing a custom ROM. It is great, but for many can be involved and time consuming.

I came from a WinMo device where I had Voice Commands. Loved that!

That was the one single thing I miss about having a WinMo phone.

The good part is that now I don't initiate calls in my car anymore, which is probably much safer for me and those driving around me LOL.

I just recently turned on the auto-answer if headset is connected feature on my Captivate (using GV Callback), so I'll take calls, but not initiate them. Guess that means I'm 50% safer than before.

I have asked this question on XDA: Which custom Roms support bluetooth voice dialing? The only one I found is Firefly. Any others?

Paragon, I use Bluetooth voice dialing on it all of the time.

I just had a long and interesting eChat with a Samsung rep. He told me that 2.2.1 update would work then could not tell me how to get it. Then went on to say I need to install an app from the Market. I paid for one he said would work and still no go via bluetooh "Blue Ant S4" which is what I specifically need. He said the Captivate does not have voice recognition. When I directed him to their own site Features and Specifications - Samsung Captivate? Android Smartphone | Samsung Mobile
And had him hover over the "voice recognition" listed in features he found it clearly states "
Voice Recognition Technology enabling a phone to understand spoken contact names and make calls on command.

All he could tell me was he apologized for the inconvinience and was there anything else he could do for me. OMG...... :thinking:
