I took my daughter to manhattan to bring her to a bunch of stores (M&M store, ToysRus, Disney, etc) and we had such an amazing time!

The entire time i was snapping pics on my DI, and they all came out like crap!! It was daylight but we were inside for most of the pics.

Any single little tiny bit of movement, would cause a blur in the photo!

Same thing happened few weeks ago i went to a hotel party, was snapping photos in the room and on the balcony, took about 40 pics, maybe 2 of them were decent and share-able

I know its not a DSLR, its just a phone-camera. But its marketed heavily as having such an amazing camera! What good is it if the photos are not usable?

I know if i have perfect light, a stationary subject, and a steady arm, they will be flawless and breathtaking. But what about the other 99.9% of the time i want to use it?

Is there a setting i can tweak to speed up the capture to avoid blur?

Thanks

I have taken many pictures with the camera and find it works incredibly fine......as long as you can hold it still! Any camera that doesn't have an eye level viewfinder has a problem as, when held at arms length, any small movement of the camera is a large movement at the subject. Increasing the ISO can certainly help also.
On the other hand, I find the video focus rather poor as it doesn't pick up quickly when moving the camera in a horizontal motion (which is one of the reasons for having a video). Overall though, very pleased

I noticed the pictures come out much better if I either hold the trackpad down until the picture is taken, or hold my finger on the screen to take the picture. When I would just click the trackpad and let go the pics were coming out blurry.

Hopefully that made sense.

Biggest hint - Keep a steady and firm hand on the phone.

This proves difficult when you have to move that very same hand to actually push the button to take the picture. Once I kept my hand extremely still and was able to take the picture.....it looked fantastic. Otherwise, shit. I was also only taking still pictures. I've always noticed problems with taking movement shots. Increasing ISO helps...but not entirely.

Stop with the steady hands comments people. When there is a moving object, the camera is not that good. Sure changing iso helps some, but still not that great.

No, I think the camera is great, for a camera with a tiny aperture. I guess the difference in opinion comes from our different expectations that we have for cameras with tiny apertures.

When limited by small apertures, you will need correspondingly long shutter speeds. There is no way around it. To expect anything different, is to expect the camera to defy the laws of physics. I don't have any expectation that my phone camera will defy the laws of physics. If that was the case, they wouldn't have called in the Droid Incredible, they would have called it the Droid Impossible.:)

1. Make sure you have as much lighting on the subject that you can get.

2. HOLD IT STEADY!!!

3. Tell your subject to hold still for the picture.

If you want better pictures in lower light, buy a real camera.

I have to add my wife and I have same phone but mine is rooted, hers is not. Im using CM7 Nightlies

Her camera is hands down superior than mine, neither of us messing with any settings.

Mine appears to require the subject to be completely stationary. Any movement at all and it creates a blur

hers doesnt have this issue, pics are crisp and clear, even when subject moved.

hmmmmmm
