Root Digging GB but...

Ever since I installed GB there has been an icon next to the 3g icon that is two grey arrows going in opposite directions in the shape of a circle. Does anyone know what this icon is??

thats your sync icon. P3 recomends doing a factory reset in the stock recovery to help make it go away

6. If you're having Sync Issues After flash you need to Go back and do a Factory Reset in Stock Recovery. It helps if you do it multiple times. I usually do it 3 or 4 at a minimum.

I'll try to post a picture of it later, but it probably is the sync icon. Anyway I've had GB installed since last night, so will it just go away eventually.. or should I go ahead and do a factory reset?

And on a completely unrelated note, is there any news on some GB roms yet?

I had the same issue after a blanket restore of "all apps plus data" through TiBackup... it would not go away. If i froze contacts sync in TiBackup it went away but I just did a factory reset through settings and when restoring my apps through Ti Backup I picked "restore missing apps+data" and the problem went away.

again nothing definitive, just my observations

If it looks like the circle/arrow icon in my notification area it is the "sync" icon.

I restored all apps plus data and didn't have a problem.

Yea I had read somewhere it was a possibility, I can not confirm it. If you look under TiBup Backup/Restore, I have "Contacts Sync2.3.3" and "Contacts Data 2.3.3" I tried freezing them individually and freezing the Contacts Sync2.3.3 caused the sync icon to disappear immediately.

I did not know what level this would affect the system operation so i decided to factory reset. all is good now for me

Its a reference to the new deodexed one I think.

I tried using it but for some reason all my contacts were f'd up, so I just nandroided back to the one with the sync icon problem. I'll try again later I guess.
I'm pretty sure its facebook trying to sync contacts causing the problem.

Under "accounts" my facebook account is missing, but I can't set a new one up because it says I already have one. Also, freezing "Social Messaging Service 2.3.3" gets rid of the sync icon problem.

I just don't know how to delete my invisible facebook account.

Edit: Never mind. It came back.
Edit 2: Maybe not. It went away again. I still think its facebook related.
Edit 3: ... And came back. sigh.

Just wanted to confirm that freezing that app works, and does not interfere with your actual contacts syncing with google. With it frozen, I'm still getting nigh-instantaneous syncing with google.

My contacts aren't syncing with Facebook though. But I'm fine with that.

Edit: This is really weird. I unfroze it just to let it go for a bit longer, then while doing a batch backup using Ti my notification bar disappears. When it comes back, no sync icon. And now all the FB contacts are synced back into my contacts. 30 minutes later, the sync icon comes back. I give up.

It might take a day or two (or has it already been that? lol...) for everything to fall into place. The afternoon after I flashed GB I was listening to my car stereo (which I have hooked up to my DX via an RCA cable) and everything looked just fine. Then I hit 'Library/artists' and all that was listed was 'Unknown Artist', and nothing else. Then I went back to my list of songs and they were all there, but under all of them it said 'unknown artist/unknown album'. I was like, "WTF???? Oh great, now I have to go in and edit all the information again"??? I was pretty bummed.

But a few hours later.... presto, all the info was back. Dunno where it had run off to. But I'm glad it decided to come back!
