what to you guys think of the launcher SPB Shell 3D

I downloaded the app and tried it for 24hrs. Really liked the functionality. Tbh it is more eye candy than features, but I could still use desktop visualizer to customize. Unfortunately non spb widgets I added disappeared at reboot. I contacted the dev who told me It's a known issue that will be rectified at the next update. He offered me a refund which I have taken. The support has been excellent though, so I will re purchase at a later date.

SPB 3D is great its quick, smooth, and quick to change back and forth with original interface, I have it on HTC Desire, Galaxy S, and a Nexus S. all works fine on all of them, no lags no bugs........worth ever penny..........I've tried Beautifull Widgets, Folder Organizer, Crazy Home, ADW Launcher and Open Home...........and their a waste of money and time, i know with SPB Shell what im getting and happy to pay the price for good apps........."that does exacly what it says it does on the tin "

I think to be fair, SPB was good for symbian phones to give them the 'android or iphone' like NICE UI setups...

but for android itself its wasted as we have far better launcher for a FRACTION of the cost..

and to the 15 minute refund in the market...its STILL better than the apple app store with NO refund time window..

Most apps on the Apple store has a lite or trial version available, actually I think it's a must due to no refund, there's not that many lite or trial versions of Android apps however.

And as far as I remember, the Symbian and WinMo version of SPB was widely pirated.

yea I agree in comparison there is VERY little in the way of trial stuff..

I jut think maybe SPB SHOULDN'T of been released as a paid version yet if theres major bugs with 3rd party widgets etc...I mean your basically buying a beta really :(

and yes...SPB was MASSIVELY pirated...but over on the symbian boards we were using just legit versions and highly policing those who kept trying to bring in pirate versions especially in the themes thread...hell it happened when they released the version with the 'android like' status bar when it was smaller than the standard symbian bar..

UPDATE:

Having now played with SPB myself, yea its fast....maybe...I think its a placebo effect...in certain things its fast as in shifting between panels with alot on compared to say sometimes having a lil lag with LP (maybe) but then again its a lil laggy when calling the main app drawer up.

Also just like the older symbian version, its OWN range of widgets are small...and even more useless now...I mean it has widgets inbuilt that android ALREADY has on pretty much all phones either via vanilla android or via a manufacturers UI interface..

Also found issues with laying ANY widgets in there that AREN'T spb's own....clocks and other things will not resize (or am I just used to LP+ lol) as well as positions are a little hit and miss....some things WILL move...but most wont properly..

also finding it annoying removing panels because I cannot remove the default widgets on the panels is highly annoying..

On the whole I will say that it has a long way to go to be good, if it just didn't focus so much RIGHT now on 3D actions and the glitz but actually on form and substance and worry bout the pomp later on..

DEFINATELY not worth the price currently...thats for damn sure..at least not in my opinion though..

fair play to the company , they gave me a refund the next day after i told them it just crashed my phone all the time .

See I didnt even need to say it crashed my phone...I just plainly listed the faults with it and I felt that it deserved much more needed time in development before being released as a cash purchase....and that it was crap lol

Lol was gunna start a thread just like this , basically had a quick go with it yesterday just to see what all the fuss was about, its just eye candy, without a shadow of a doubt not worth even a fraction of the 9 quid odd they expect, don't get me wrong, the weather widget looks nice, the 3d carousel looks nice, but other than that there's no substance to it. Hardly any of its own Widgets, was expecting maybe a music widget at the very least, but nope, just a few which weren't all that interesting, until they develop something worthy of the extortionate price, I can't really see it taking off. Despite all the negative remarks I'm giving this app, I really do hope they get it right, its a good, nice looking IDEA, with potential, they just have to include features that us hardcore android users are going to appreciate.

I will agree with that...they really need to amp it up alot...what they have is basically a piss poor but shinier copy of their symbian launcher of sorts...

they really need to re-invent the wheel so to speak if they want to charge the almost heinous charge of almost a tennner on us unsuspecting folk ;):D

I'm thumbing through all the takes on this app. I bought it. I like it ....... well.... sortof ....... lol
It LOOKS good. I actually have it organized pretty kewl (IMO) and was running Launcher Pro, after running the stock Sense ( ON AN EVO 4G )
Folders here work better than in Launcher Pro for me, although maybe I'm just getting a little better at organizing. I miss all the docks in Launcher Pro.
*** This crashes a lot, and or just randomly reboots my phone. I am NOT crazy about that part but am giving it while to work itself out (or for my usage to change it somehow) I shut my 4g and my bluetooth and my wirelesss all day when I think about it to conserve battery. I carry three of them, and just bought another as I think my older spares no longer maintain the charge as well as they used to. I don't use the phone a lot on workdays, maybe 4 calls a day between 8-6, but check my mail a lot, and google a lot

I was going to upgrade but couldn't find a good reason to so purchased this to give me the "feel" of a new phone and so far so good, if it would just quit rebooting. Having said that, in the last two days it has not rebooted, but I think it was Friday, rebooted 4 times w/o reason I am aware of.

AND it is sure slow to load or get back to the home page at times

Is it worth 15 bucks? I am hesitant to say yes. That's about 5 times what I have paid for any other application, and I guess unless it's a real "Treat" purchase for yourself, would say ..... nah ..... go with Launcher Pro .... or Sense ....
