Help 2.2 is killing my battery, & its not a known issue, Now what!?

I think I fixed my issue! After combing through many different places. I listed 3-4 possible solutions to try. The first one was turning off the "Background data". Settings> Acconts and sync> then uncheck Background data... So far it seems as though I am back to the same power usage I was at before the update came through. I will know by 1:00!
(Side Note: I think I remember doing this when I first got the phone back in November, to help with the battery usage. I guess I had to do it again after the update.)

Sure that will extend your battery life, but your smart phone just got dumber.

OK, here's the latest... The Background data was killing my battery, BUT my calendar doesn't sync automatically anymore and my work email will not auto sync either. I tested it today by allowing the background data and everything syncs fine but battery drained abnormally again.

It was working fine before the update (everything synced automatically and battery lasted long enough for me). I need to know what changed and how I can get it back to normal?!

That is the million dollar question. "what changed and how I can get it back to normal?" There are no fixes for this yet. What's even more puzzling, is it's not happening to everyone's phone. The best thing to do, is call Sprint and complain, so they get on the stick and alert Samsung.

Okay, latest update... I don't know what happened or how it happened, but I am back to my normal battery usage. After gme109 said some of my apps would be crippled, I turned "background data" back on on Friday and it still drained fast. HOWEVER, on Saturday I went all day on one battery. I got back to work yesterday and today.... and my battery is lasting until the end of my workday, just like before the update! Maybe my phone and I are spiritually linked or something?! I have no idea what fixed it, but I am back to normal!

Same here. After I followed this battery training tip, my battery lasts all day now.

To help with Battery Life you can do these steps exactly:

1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more
2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour
3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, I tested this on my pops evo and my epic...MAJOR DIFFERENCE

I have to retract my previous statement. Today my battery, with 2 short phone calls, and few texts, dies in 6 hours. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to battery life, after 2.2.1.

Full charge and Try this.....Thanks to Belushi

got 36 hours and still had 1/4 battery. Surfing, calling and text

Not quite sure, I kind of wondered the same thing. I ended up going all the way --shutdown the phone, death grip to turn on (e.g. press all buttons --volume up/down, power, and camera), then selected "wipe cache partition" (use volume up/down to move cursor, press home button to select), then selected "wipe data/factory rest". That wiped all my settings (e.g. gmail settings, exchange settings, ..) and I had to reinstall my applications. Did not reverse my 2.2.1 update but, fixed my battery issues, felt like a brand new phone.

After the update, my phone will go from 100% to 90% within minutes. Then from 90% to 20% in about four hours time.

I've tried everything. Very upset cause I love the phone but the battery life is just killing me
