Should I buy htc desire hd?

I`m going to buy phone soon. I can`t choose between nokia n8, DHD, and samsung galaxy s.

I still go to school, I`d like to play games on HDH, but would the battery survive from 7am to about 17pm? I would buy angry birds and some of gameloft HD games. I`m dont need internet, maybe only at home. I dont need to go in facebook or e-mail in my phone. I would just text, call and play games. Would the battery survive from 7am to about 5pm? [7:00-17:00]

DHD looks fast and the screan is great, but wouldn't that look silly when I`m talking? And does it fit in pocket, isnt that discomfortable? And can I use it with one hand? Is it awsome to play games with it? Is the texting normal?
How long can I play big games on it, like asphalt 6, gangstar and Dungeon Hunter 2 HD?

Would you recommend dhd for me? If I would buy it, I would need to work with it about year or two.

Read the battery threads on here...that'll give you some idea of the sort of life you will get out of it.
With heavy gaming and a few calls/texts you will probably struggle to get the HD through a full day.

The Galaxy S has a better battery and a super amoled screen which would be better for gaming, it's a slighty smaller phone if that will sway your decision.

Both excellent phones though.

No, its bot uncomfortable to hold, have in your pocket. You can use it with one hand and texting is easier thanks to the big screen.

Gaming is very good, the screen is big and doesn't look too dark or low on contrast due to it being lcd. Runs incredibly smoothly and on screen controls are a breeze.

Great phone, I'd always recommend it.

And about the battery, if your in school you won't use it every minute of every hour right? Then your battery will be just fine going from 7 till 5. I get about 38 hours off of medium to heavy use including some demanding games...it just needs tweaking properly

Depends on how much of that time you'll spend playing games.

I would buy angry birds

It's free.

I`m dont need internet, maybe only at home. I dont need to go in facebook or e-mail in my phone. I would just text, call and play games.

I can't believe no one has picked you up on this - you don't need a phone like the DHD. It would be an utter waste of your hard earned cash (or your parents hard earned cash).

You'd be better off with a 20 quid dumbphone and an iPod touch.

but wouldn't that look silly when I`m talking?

Ignore my earlier point. If you care so much about what people think maybe a cheap phone is inappropriate.

And does it fit in pocket, isnt that discomfortable?

You'll get used to the uncomfort in no time.

And can I use it with one hand?

Yes but it'll be a struggle.

Is it awsome to play games with it?

Not really.

Is the texting normal?

Define normal

Would you recommend dhd for me?

No.

Hi Online Gamer,

Before purchasing my HTC Desire HD I did infact buy a Nokia N8. After nearly two weeks of using the phone (with my mate next to me on his HTC Desire HD) I took it back to where I bought it and swapped it over for the DHD. I haven't looked back.
As for battery life, I have never run out of charge on mine, but I am always plugging it in when I'm at home, or in my car etc. Mostly the battery is good, but if I play Pocket Legends, the graphics and wireless data chew through the battery and probably would only get about 2 hours of gameplay before needing a charge.

As for screen size, after using the DHD I could not imagine myself operating on a screen any smaller.

In summary, the HTC Desire HD is the way to go imo.

Really? For someone who has explicitly said they don't require internet connectivity most of the time?

Am I the only person that requires a portable device like the DHD in order to be connected to the google cloud 24/7?

Isn't a top-level Android phone pointless if you're not connected?

The OP stated he played games, the 1GHZ processor in the DHD is superb for gaming. The large 4.3 INCH screen, ideal for gaming on. Sure, he is missing a lot of features by not going online, but what other phone offers the power and display of the DHD?

As I said in my OP, the HTC Desire HD is the way to go imo.

Not really. If, like me, you work 13-14 hour shifts with nothing happening for 75% of the time, having a phone with a large, bright screen, is the perfect, discreet alternative to lugging a laptop in with you to watch films. I can also use it to browse the web if I want to bypass some of my employers restrictive firewalls.

I like the ability that if I want, I can check my emails/FB whilst I'm out, but just because it's there, I don't have to use it all the time. If someone chooses to get a top level Android handset, it is theirs to do with as they want.

OP, there are comparable/better phones out there, the iPhone for example, but that's let down because of

A) The iTunes requirement.
B) You can only play MP4 files on it, the DHD will play pretty much anything with the right player.

If you just want to play games, maybe the iPhone is the way to go as apparently, games are better on that.

The iPhone does a lot of things better, but if the DHD fits your requirements, go for that, it's your choice. Your best bet is to go into any phone shop and have a play about with the various handsets to see which one feels right for you. It's up to you how you spend your money.

Dreadful advice.

If you just want to play games get an iPod touch and a cheap phone. It is absolutely insane to recommend a phone like the DHD and even more insane to recommend the iPhone4 to someone who clearly doesn't need one!

OP, it would be a tragic waste of your money to splash out on a two year contract for something you don't need. Seriously.

You can even get an 2.1 Android device AND an iPod touch for a fraction of the cost of a DHD or iPhone4.

Surely you can't suggest that recommending an iPhone4 or DHD to a student who isn't that bothered with anything that a smartphone offers is a good idea?!

The PSP/DS option is probably an expensive option too. Games for iOS are a fraction of the cost.

Let's be honest: to buy a DHD for an "awesome" gaming experience would be, to say the least, woefully misguided.

Look at the first sentence, the OP stated they're going to buy a new phone and given 3 options, all of which are smart phones. They've clearly got the money to buy one or they wouldn't have narrowed it down to those 3 phones. I only suggested an iPhone as an alternative as he/she was looking for a phone which so happened to have a decent selection of games available. I'll be honest and say I've never used an iPhone to play games, I merley suggested it based on other peoples experiences and posts like this one.

Based on what the OP has wrote, they're looking for a single device that they can use to make calls, texts and that he/she can have a semi decent gaming experience on. Nowhere do they state they're looking for 2 separate devices.

Just because you don't believe that a smart phone would be a good choice for them (or anyone else that won't be using its features 100% of the time), that doesn't mean (s)he doesn't think it is.

Based on what OP wrote they need some good advice.

They're looking for an "awesome" gaming experience and no one with an Android phone could recommend it for this purpose with a straight face.

OP states they want a device to play games on - none of the 3 phones mentioned suit this purpose and we should make OP aware of this.

Despite the fact that OP is almost certainly a troll.

They've stated they can't decide between 3 handsets. They've asked which one would be better for gaming, all people have done is give the OP their opinion on the 3 handsets they've enquired about.

Yep. In all fairness, you won't really get a decent gaming experience on any phone, not even the new Experia Play by all accounts.

OP states they want a device to play games on - none of the 3 phones mentioned suit this purpose and we should make OP aware of this.

Yes, but there are certain ways of putting your point across ;)

Despite the fact that OP is almost certainly a troll.

Probably yes.
