it would really help all this "rumor" and speculations if VERIZON would just tell us what the heck is going on. why is that so hard for them? they are a communication company who sucks at communicating

Well, since it is the same exact file that was leaked earlier, and since that file has been notorious for causing random re-boots on some phones (it doesn't on mine, but I seem to be one of the lucky ones).
I'm going to go with what Digdoug said... They delayed it because it was causing random reboots on phones. It is NOT Gingerbread.

Hey, there are a couple of things that we Verizon Thunderbolt customers will never have to deal with: accurate explanations and immediate gratification. You don't want your customer experience burdened with those things do you? Didn't think so.

I have been running Gingerbread on my phone for a few weeks now. It's called CM7. 
There are multiple reasons why I chose to go CM7 route. 1. More frequent updates. 2. I don't have to have TWOcompanies approve each build. 3. I hate Sense. It is just bloat. A full install of CM7 is a little less than 90mb. Smallest Sense based ROM I've seen: around 200mb.
I will give HTC credit that they have a "pretty" UI, It's just not my flavor. If I am not vanilla, I am not happy, I guess.

Maybe we should start asking Kung Fu Panda (Verizon Panda, Cellphone Panda, HTC Panda, or whatever he goes by) when the update is coming and start a whole rumor/expectation cycle again.

I just got the update pushed to my phone and to my surprise it didn't included gingerbread or ice cream, but it was full of Jelly Bean goodness! Now it makes sense why there was a delay, they wanted to give us a taste of Android 4.0. Let me tell you it's pretty awesome. Be on the look out everyone

I just chatted with a Verizon agent and they told me it's being delayed until Q4 only for members of androidforums because too many people from androidforums rooted their TBs and that's what caused the 4G outage. Then, he told me that he could see I was rooted because I was chatting from my TB, and he terminated my account.

That's BS. Jelly Bean is only compatible with quad core phones. Meaning it's android 5.0. 4.0 is actually called Plum Pudding. Get your facts straight before you post on here.

I believe this is exactly why they do it. I remember with the eris they leaked version 1 which sucked. wouldn't you know a month or two later there was leak 2 and then leak 3 followed by an identicle OTA

Me: That's 2.3 code name cornbread?
