The Acer Iconia A500 Is A Winner

Yesterday was the last day of my 14 day Best Buy return period. I have to admit when I bought it I had a wait and see attitude about the A500 and I was ready to return it if it didn't meet my expectations.

Long story very short, I love the A500 and it has been a great purchase decision. I am having none of the performance issues some others have reported. This tablet rocks and it is a definite keeper. It will even be better when it receives the 3.1 update.

Anyone else agree?

I would agree, if the wake out of sleep issue is fixed. I had two A500s (second boxed to go back to BB today) and both pop out of sleep mode and the second one was much worse and would not even go back in sleep mode unless the power button is pressed. Does not matter if wifi on/off, fresh restart or what apps are running.

I can see why some are have battery drain issues, since the A500 for some does NOT really stay in sleep mode, but pops in and out of sleep mode.

I will not bother with a third A500 until 3.1 is released. Seems the issue is A500 firmware related and not Honeycomb, since no mass reports of the issue with Trans or Xoom. I need the USB host and really like the A500- sans the sleep mode issue.

Deedub is right, the Acer Iconia wins for me too. There are those here that don't like it and have returned it harping on the same issues over and over as a reason they did not keep it. Unable to wait a month or so for updates they return the product and then spend the rest of their time staying in the same forums bashing it. I call it disinfo or, corporate marketing strategy etc etc. Some people don't want to be happy, they want perfection on developing products, and when they don't get perfection they bitch and moan till the sun stops shining. Rush, this is a great tablet, I am sorry you took yours back, but now that you have no more Iconia tablets how about taking your hate for it elsewhere, I say hate, maybe dislike is a better word.

I went out and bought a 100.00 in accessories and am committed to the Iconia because it works, has more than the rest out there, was available when I needed it, and has done a great job since. Sure there are minor issues, but they will get fixed eventually. And by this time next year something else will come along to replace it. Why not just get something that works for you and quit running around 20 different forums bashing the Iconia for your perceived issues?
