15 Second Screen Timout Problem

Something keeps changing the timeout on my phone to 15seconds. I have checked every single enter and exit task for tasker (6 times!) and there is nothing less than a 1min timeout command for any of my profiles.

I have spent the past 4 days trying to figure out this problem to no avail.

So far it seems to make the change randomly. I've tried to figure out if it's tied to a drop in signal, or a change/absence of active tasker profiles, but i just can't pin down the exact cause.

Again, I have checked every profile in Tasker 6 times and I cannot find a 15sec timeout command. Is there a default setting somewhere in Tasker, or some other app or phone setting that I am missing? It's really ticking me off because it keeps randomly overriding my Tasker profiles.

Thanks for any help!

I've spent days on this.. and now, only after posting, I figured out that it is related to Widget Locker's 15second timeout leaking over into controlling my general screen timeout when certain Tasker profiles cut widgetlocker short.

Edit: Got it resolved. It's cool if a mod wants to remove this thread.

I'm having the same issue. Could you please tell me how did you fix it?

When i wrote that, I thought I had found a way around it by using tasker to kill/disable widget locker before launching into any of those "cut-off" profiles. Sadly, widget locker and tasked are not as compatible as they claim. So I had to just disable the widget locker timeout altogether :(

However, since tasker's newest update allowing for froyo app killing if rooted, it may actually work to kill widget locker before tasked launches something. But I haven't tried it yet.

Yeah, I tried disabling Widget Locker but it still wouldn't help. I think some settings in the phone have been played around with Widget Locker and now whatever the case, the screen times out after 15 seconds.

I will keep an eye out for a fix as well, please update this forum if you find one too.. I'm really annoyed by my screen going off when I'm waiting for a webpage to load and stuff. Seems like now no app can keep the screen from going off!

Darn you Widget Locker... :(

Android only has one global screen timeout. WidgetLocker works by saving/restoring it and replacing it with it's own. If you use tasker to also do a save/restore of the timeout and they overlap at all then things are going to get messy.

Next update for WidgetLocker will give an alternative method for root users to handle the timeout, this will avoid such issues.

Future update after that will give Android 2.2+ users the same functionality if they enable a Device Admin.
