It's just all about how he spins everything. Look at BroodComb for the Nook. "Ripped apart CM7 and added DG features." He pre-installed the gapps and a launcher, then themed it.

It's the way he operates. Removing a bunch of bloat files and adding a theme doesn't make something a "new ROM." It makes it a theme. So call it what it is instead of making it sound bigger. If I took the base .596 and remove the bloat but leave the Blur apps, I don't release a zip and call in BinaryDroid 1.0. And I don't then remove the Blur apps and replace the camera and launcher with AOSP, then call it AndroidVisions 1.0. At best, it's completely disingenuous. At worst, it's simply dishonest, and it denigrates the work of people who are actually doing work.

I don't know what you do for a living, but wouldn't it irk you if you were a firefighter, and someone claimed they were a firefighter, too, because they dumped a bucket of sand on their campfire last week?

I completely agree with your post. Thing is, you never know what he'll contribute. I have a problem with the people who won't even try it but go out of their way to make a big issue out of everything he does.
Look at Fab and AliasxeroG? Those guys went out of their way to congratulate the guy on his Masters Degree and they've both been Kanged. A little civility goes a long way.

Aww, geez, man... Why you gotta piss on my righteous indignation?

Seriously, though, very fair point. I guess sometimes I just don't filter myself in the interest of civility - and sometimes, I probably should. Nonetheless, while civility is important, I also think it's important that it not be sugar coated when someone is doing something wrong... since that just encourages them to keep doing it.

Anyway... back to your regularly scheduled programming.

there is a difference between fab and aliasxerog, and drew garen
fab made his rom from his own base
alias is a genius that worked relentlessly on getting the dx bootloader unlocked

drew garen, (i didnt know he has a masters) but if he does he should be able to create his own work, instead of using someone elses. thats what we are getting at, he is stealing other peoples stuff and passing it as his once he changes a few text in there, and a few images. its still not his, and he should be stating who it really belongs to and he should be thanking them. instead he is taking a hit from the community and isnt trying to make amends with it.

Can we just lump Drew in with the likes of Black Droid and Nenolod and call it done. I've been done with this guy for a while. If he is a real developer he would have known that all those APK's had been edited by Fab and now he just decompiled a nightly for CM4DX, themed it and added a launcher to it and pre-installed GAPPS... thats a mod... not an entire ROM. Did he figure out the 2nd init? Did he contribute to the source code for CM4DX? No! So plain and simple he is a kanger and is rightfully labeled so. Think the old saying is... "get me once, shame on you... get me twice... shame on me...". When the last 2 "ROMs" you put our have been shown to be complete copies = FAIL.

Ive seen his ROMs before, back when GB was being leaked prior to OTA. This honestly doesn't surprise me one bit! All this guy does is take parts from different ROMs and mix them together. That doesn't take skill, anyone can do that crap.

Fab did the right thing by congratulating him because he took the high road in the whole situation from the get go...

i think part of the problem is that...at least where this forum is concerned he probably picked the wrong developer to kang (Fab) considering that Fab was around here a lot, and there is an attachment to his ROMS (ApeX) on these forums...

I've been sketchy of DG when I started the theme and rom thread. he's got like 15 roms that are all pretty much the same thing. I've never flashed one of his roms and never plan to.

I'm gonna have to go to his site and find actual differences between his work and others. if something seems fishy, I'm taking his stuff off my official thread.

this thread will stay alive!!!

besides we all know dg is a theif, i have never downloaded or flashed anything of his, mainly because i didnt know him that well, fab was here on the forums, and everyone liked him, liberty, was here on the forums, but when i heard that an SBF was required with most of DG's roms, i just backed off from that. so we all know his work is stolen work, no need to beat a dead horse still.

I used a few of his ROMs back in the beginning before all these kanging accusations and such surfaced. I just stopped using them because they didn't really provide anything different.

Always give credit where it is due....doesnt matter what it is, what line of business, if its a post a thread or a rom etc. You never ever take credit for something you didnt do.
