i bought my galaxy SII 1 week back and im not much happy with my battery consumption ...its average but from two days i dont know why but the Android OS consumption usage is increasing.....can any1 plzz xplain me what to do and if i do rooting will it help with the android OS issue in battery

I was getting a similar sort of battery life and os percentage as you heshanj until I flashed villian rom. Now os rarely goes above 20% and im getting over 60% left on my battery after 10 hours. I really recommend villain rom. Looks and features are just the same as stock firmware. To look at it you cant tell the difference, but battery life is a lot better. Also if you get the villain tweeks app you can use the new google talk app with video calling.

There is a good thread on this over at XDA developers. Seems like widgets are causing the problem - not necessary themselves maybe more like how Samsung are managing them.

Try removing ALL widgets - shortcuts are OK. Reboot and then see how you get on.

This really worked for me. Plus I disabled background data. Apps can still access internet if you launch them. You will have to reenable this to use the Marketplace for some reason - but just switch off again later.

Hopefully doing this you won't need to root.

I cant comment on the auto brightness as I dont use it. You should do a nandroid backup after rooting before you flash villain rom. That way if anything goes wrong you can restore your phone to how it was. If you want to go back to standard firmware after you have rooted and flashed villain rom just do a wipe and flash a standard firmware pack, this will remove root as well.
