Buyer beware if you ordered just before data plans changed...

I ordered the Thunderbolt on 7/5 after the cutoff so it was like I ordered on 7/6. When I went through the process, I selected unlimited data for personal....or whatever. Skip to today...I received the Thunderbolt and set it up. I checked my account online and it shows that I have the 2 GB data plan. WTF???? This wasn't even an option when I ordered.

Customer service said since I activated it today, I'm on 2GB because they don't have unlimited any more. She sent something up to someone to see if they will change it, but she said they probably will not.

I told her when I ordered, it didn't even give me an option for the 2GB data plan. Even the paperwork that came with the phone says unlimited for $29.99.

Sorry to hear about that. That is one reason I went in week before. I had been holding out for a bionic, but who TF knows when that thing will see the light of day. I have a free phone from work, but I was getting tired of carrying a POS BB with shitty Nextel coverage (yeah, laugh all you want), and my wife works for the part of Frontier that was bought from Verizon, so we get a substantial discount. So I had been planning to jump on board for a while--the rate change finally goosed me into doing it.

They should honor your contract if you signed up for unlimited data and that's what it says on your paperwork. Keep calling CS and going up the levels until they take care of you. Remember, be nice, but firm and tell them you want the plan you signed up for, not the one they threw in at the last minute. You purchased the plan before their BS "tears" (see what I did there) Good luck and update this thread when you get this resolved :)

Well....GREAT news. Verizon honored the unlimited data plan and put it on my account. I called the activation phone number (877-807-4646) and they were able to do it. I don't know why CS couldn't...but I'm happy. AND on top of that I'm getting 4G in Riverside, CA 92507. I'll check back and let you all know if I get it at my house in Riverside.

sprint now that's the most crooked company out there. Don't ever try the risk free 30 day trial with them. I had sprint service for 21 days and they tried to hold me to a 2 year contract. They got collections on me and everything. I had to call BBB and wrote them exactly what happened. The guy at the Sprint store printed me a receipt and everything when I returned the phone. They said he must of forgot to cancel your contract, well sorry you're in contract now. Sprint lying crooks. I made such a big beef about it with bbb sprint then did the right thing. they should have did the right thing all along and honor what they advertise. lying sacks of shits. I would never go back to sprint never ever. The EVO is a piece of Shit and the service it ran on was a piece of shit and the 1800 phone support are piece of shits.

Looks like you just found out the hard way that "risk free 30 day trials" are always too good to be true. Don't blame Sprint on this one... you were had hook line and sinker. Never ever believe these "trials" especially with gym memberships.

Oh that reminds me I need to go cancel that membership to peak fitness this weekend...

On topic: I've only heard good reviews of people trying out VZW with the risk free trial, even when people have cancelled they haven't had issues given it was within the pre-determined amount of time.

Sprint?

I used to work for them (core network, not wireless).

My best friend has an Evo. We live in the Dallas area. He works in freaking telecom corridor. He stopped turning on his 4G because: 1. It ate the battery, and he has an extended battery (sound familiar, TB users?) and 2. he so rarely got 4G (and this is in Dallas in telecom corridor) that he decided it was pointless to have the WiMAX radio on.

Same shit, different company. 4G is still developing.

Sprint is garbage. They tried to buy T-maybe first, and even T-Maybe turned them down in a heartbeat. Leave the center of a metro or highway and you are screwed. Let them tout the all unlimited all day...doesn't matter when it doesn't work. Sprint has the worst infrastructure of any cell company next to T-Maybe. ATT is coming slighty ahead of T but even they admit to being 5 years behind the lead.
