A guy on XDA got a call from an "official" person with Sprint, and they told him they would be rolling it out on the 25th, and that everyone will be getting it rather than an incremental release.
I think I've learned my lesson in getting excited for the rumored release dates.....but why wouldnt they just come out and give us a date if they have one in mind? If they feel solid it is going to be on the 25th it serves no purpose to keep us in the dark about it until the minute it is released. Not buying these rumors anymore until my phone prompts me to update a new release. The aggravating part is that I am almost at my 30 day return policy limit and I want to know this phone is going to get its stuff together. I really like the phone but I do need better performance.
Guess what? AT&T is releasing their own version of the Nexus S. It is a phone sold on contract at a subsidized price. Now you know the probable cause of the delay since some of the update's enhancements are not specific to Sprint.
Haha, ya seriously! I expect stuff to be broken on my phone cuz I mess with it a lot. But if like, my mom got a ns4g, and had no 4g toggle switch.. kinda ridiculous.
Enhancements/Fixes:
- Enables NFC (Near Field Communication) Secure Element in preparation to support secure transactions
- Improved WiFi connectivity, speaker phone audio quality, and 4G acquisition and throughput
- Updated signal strength display indicators
- Fixes error code 67 when making account changes
- Adds TTY support
I'm sure all will go down this time. If you think about it, Sprint never came out and said it the other two times. Those were just leaked screenshots and stuff. Sprint came out and said it this time. Even though it was suppose to go down on the 11th and 18th...
Sprint and Google decided that it would be wise to leave 3G alone, that way we all have a reason to bitch and complaint till the next upgrade | excuse the sarcasm I just could not help it! |
As far as I understand the update fixes ALL connection and network issues along with some other bugs and new features.
Where is Google headquarters? EST or PST? Called Sprint and they told me that the update is from Google not Sprint. They also gave me a bogus Google support phone number... 10:30 EST and no sign of the update.

Google is in the "Bay Area" of California. Its 8am there at the time of this post (not even regular business hours, yet). I'd try to relax, just a bit. I've seen scheduled updates that start pushing as late as the evening hours. Now, breath.
The update has nothing to do with Sprint though... it is all Google pushing the update out. I keep hearing it will be pushed over a 3 week period! I can't go another 3 weeks like this!!! Hope it's not true.
Calm down people. Its pushed by google but sprint supports it so they tweet it and announce it. It really shouldn't kill or break you. It will come out in waves over the next 3 weeks starting today. Sprint tweeted that a few minutes ago. Its not that serious, especially you know its coming now.
