There is a new version of Gingerbread out for the Droid X in the TBH app today. It is version 4.5.602. It brings a new radio and must be flashed from the .340 kernal. This build is odexed. Hopefully a deodexed build will follow shortly. More info as it develops.

Tried to cheat and get this on 2nd by installing P3droids all-in-one. No go :(

Update: So far the zip provided by P3Droid seems to be broke. Can not boot into this new update no matter the method used. I am reading that others are not having success either. Going to try one more method and report back. I would say to hold off on this for the time being. I will be happy to be the guinea pig and try out other suggested methods if you all would like.

Methods used so far:

1. Flash over CM7 with wipe of data/cache before boot.
2. SBF to .340 and install thru CWM with a wipe of date cache before boot.
3. From Stock rooted .596 use P3Droids .340 all in one installer followed by a reboot and then flash thru CWM the new .602 all in one installer.

Link to the new radio in a flashable update zip. Just flashed without any problems over top of Liquid GB.

1.09.13P_baseband_updater_rm_edit.zip

Credit goes to ram130 over at Rootzwiki.

Not seeing a thread at rootzwiki about this. P3 has stated that the radio can't be pulled and zipped up. Care to provide a direct link to the thread rather than an unconfirmed download?

You flashed just the radio or the entire new build?

This is just the radio. As I said, I'm running a different rom and wanted the new radio and figured I'd share if anyone else might be interested. From everything I've seen, the new update that's out there is not working irregardless of how it's applied. As an aside, I just received an email from Moto asking if I'd like to participate in another test.

Was it a .596 build? Just wondering since I'm on .596 and didn't want to go backwards to go forwards just seams dumb to do extra steps.

Noticed any difference with the new radio?

OK, finally got it to work. After downloading 4.5.602 from the TBH app do the following.

1. SBF to Froyo .340.
2. Once up and running install Z4root and reboot BEFORE you open Z4Root (rebooting before you open is a must or Z4 will NOT work)
3. After reboot make sure usb debugging is on, then open Z4Root and select permanent root. Let Z4 do its thing and when done your Droid X will automatically reboot.
4. Once booted back up install Droid 2 bootstrap. Open bootstrap and boot into recovery.
5. Once in recovery go to mounts.
6. Once in mounts format system, format data, format cache in that order.
7. After completing #6 while still in mounts next mount system.
8. Go back and choose install zip from SD card.
9. Scroll to where ever you have 4.5.602 and select it.
10. Once complete just reboot and set up your Droid X and you should be good to go.
