My pet peeve about these app threads is when people don't at least take the time to describe what the heck the app they are posting is. I can understand not taking the time to post market links, but sheesh. How about a description before you submit an app as "must have".

My Contribution (essential to any phone in my opinion.)

1. Tasker - Control every aspect of your phone with profiles and "events". For example when I plug my phone into a power source (AC/USB) the screen timeout changes to 5 minutes, and display brightness moves to maximum. It reverts to default settings afterwards.

2. GO Launcher EX - Best home replacement hands down. I have yet to find a home replacement feature this app doesn't have, and it's still faster and more reliable than any other in my opinion. It's also completely FREE!

3. Widgetsoid2.x - Think power control widget, but it's completely customizable and has options not found in the default power control widget. (Battery Temp, Available Ram, Toggle mobile data, etc.)

4. WidgetLocker Lockscreen - Lock screen replacement that allows addition of any homescreen widget to your lockscreen plus much more.

5. SeekDroid - Lose your phone? Remotely turn on a pin lock for your phone, wipe the phone, wipe the SD card, sound an alarm and display a custom message (a phone number and address to reach you perhaps?) track your phone with GPS, retrieve custom calls. Even if you feel like you would never lose your phone you never know, better safe than sorry.

Slacker Radio (Radio like Pandora, which Slacker has replaced for me)
Titanium Backup Pro (Back Up apps and freeze/hide bloatware like Blockbuster - must be rooted)
Dolphin HD (Far better than stock browser - Can trick websites into thinking you are surfing from a desktop)
ZumoCast (Stream/transfer files from your PC or Phone to your PC or Phone - works perfectly)
Netflix (No explaination needed. If you have a netflix account already, there is no reason not to have this on your phone... except for maybe teir data uses :x)

dude you are the man. i have been looking for this option from the android platform. 200 thumbs up brother!

DroidLight - Best flashlight app i have found. Its simple and to the point. Ive tried all the flashlight apps and this is the most simple and reliable. does need an update for the bionic coming from my X. but still simply works.

Zillow - Real estate app that you basically can search overheard via google maps and it has all kind of filters to find the right house. Pictures, sq footage, yr built, it has all the specs you could want right in your hand. Ofcourse im shopping for a house right now so this is a must have.

PowerAmp - Best music player I have found for android. Has so many settings and automatically downloads artwork for songs if you dont have it. Has a crossfade setting! Fully customizable EQ. A must have if you listen to alot of MP3's on your bionic.

Screen Filter
- Reduces the brightness of your screen for nighttime viewing. even with the stock brightness all the way down i find it too bright at night.

NBC Weather Warning - Runs in the status bar with the temp. Alerts you if severe weather is headed your way. saved me a few times when i was gonna leave the house on the motorcycle. also alerts you based on your GPS location (if traveling). Has full doppler radar built in that screams with the bionics dual core cpu and 1gb of ram. does NOT waste your battery.

Found my current home on Zillow. It is a must have app when shopping for a home. I put my Realtor(with her feature phone) to shame with this app.

adFree - just what it says - no ads on rooted phones!

Our groceries - make lists that sync to Internet and between devices

Latitude - I can find DH when he's out on a run or he can find me when I'm mountain biking in the woods! (Of course this assumes you have nothing to hide ;) )

Elixir widget - don't know how I lived without this guy! I like a clean home screen - this puts up to 9 apps/widgets in one row (and other sizes)

Shazam - in the car and something new comes up on sirius - just hit SHAZAM and then I can download it later

I guess that's 5 but there're are more I love!

I had Shazam for a while but never used it. I'll look into Elixir widget, though!
I couldn't get DH to use RTM much less figure out Latitude! LOL

Most of my top apps are listed, but:
Gesture Search - search contacts by drawing letters on your screen. one-click call, email or text.. Way faster than scrolling down the list.
Google Voice - free visual voicemail, and free alternate phone number that I don't have to answer (so I can give it to people/companies/debtors I don't ever want to hear from).
Soundhound - identifying songs on the radio
Comic Reader - for my daily fix of favorite comic strips
PDAnet - for connecting my laptop to the internet via my phone when WiFi not available.

Square - great no monthly fees way to get paid via cc
brostache- need I say more! I give this to the kids when we go places or like picking them up from boys and girls club. they get a kick out of it.
too many others to really list on here but all tools like levels, calculators, metal detector and so forth. Im looking at google wallet to see if its a convenient way to pay, but I doubt many places have the readers.

If you're talking about the Bionic, specifically, my apps are these:

JuiceDefender: The normal battery life was okay, but this dramatically improves upon this, and extends it to over a day. Very critical for the potential battery killing capabilities of this phone.

Titanium Backup: For now, freezing the bloat on this phone is much preferred to simply hiding them from the app drawer, while backups are my best friend. However, the full potential of this app should be known and will come into play, later.

Power Strip: Very nice "multi-tasker" which helps to eliminate some of the task switching found on mobile devices.

It allows me to run shortcuts and widgets at any time, without leaving the foreground app. If I'm in the middle of browsing the web or writing a text, I can tap my home button to bring up my music widget (or whatever widget I want), and switch the track without leaving the foreground app.

Thanks to the Bionic's hardware, I can run it without any hiccups.

Launcher Pro: I don't dislike the Blur UI, but I much prefer Launcher Pro. With another nod to the added muscle behind the Bionic, it means no more homescreen redraws (like my original Droid), so I'm able to fully enjoy my own custom setup.

PdaNet: My WiFi Xoom sometimes needs access, and this tethering option has worked nicely.
