New to Android/Infuse

I've been a long time IPhone user and just switched to the Infuse...figured it was time to try something new. I really like it so far, even though I'm still getting use to something different than the IPhone. I only have 2 gripes right now: reception and battery life.

First, my bars of reception seem to be much lower at places that my iphone reception bars were full status. Was wondering if anybody else experienced this?

Second, yesterday, my battery drained so fast and it seemed like I really didn't use the phone a ton. I'm trying to catch a hang on learning how to shut things down. I tried to force stop apps in the running applications section, but they just pop back on. Plus, I'm not sure what apps to stop that will affect the use of my phone. From these boards, I installed Juice Defender and have it running on balanced (even though I really don't know what its doing) so hopefully that will help.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Try a different modem if you aren't having very good reception. [MODEMS] Infuse 4G Modem Collection - (9/23/2011) - KI3 and KI4 now available - xda-developers I am personally running UCKI4 on my phone. You'll need to install Clockwork Mod so you can do this.

I'll check this out.

There is an app included on the phone called 'Task Manager' it is crucial to preserving battery life!

Yeah I use that, but it doesn't stop things from running in the background which I think is draining my battery the most. For example, I woke up at 4:55 am this morning, went to work out, and got to my job at about 6:35. My battery already dropped like 5% though I did absolutely nothing on my phone. It's 7:20 right now, and it's at 90% (used it a little since, but nothing major). I'm trying to figure out how to stop things in the background that seem to be draining it. I've stopped some, but then they just restart a second later.

There is a way you can check battery use..
Settings > About Phone > Battery use.

It will give you usage. Typically the display incurs the most. You can adjust this by reducing screen brightness - click on Display on this screen, it will also give the time of usage. Go to Brightness and reduce it.

Also Settings > Display > Power Saving Mode can help. Click this on and things will be adjusted automatically.

Let us know how it goes..
